Today in this story, I am sharing certain lifestyle traits of a man who is famous and respected for great things he did but my purpose today of writing this is to highlight more of his personal life specifications because I personally feel that he didn’t have standards only because of his wisdom and intelligence but also because of his choices and preferences that he had in his very own life at the back stage. So let’s talk about Mahomedali Jinnah Bhai, a boy who took birth in a wealthy merchant family of Karachi during 1876 and never knew that soon he would be a man – a great man. His parents had Gujrati background and had six children out of whom three were sons and three were daughters while Mahomedali was the second one. He lived for a time in Bombay with an aunt .In 1892, a business associate of his father, offered young Jinnah a London apprenticeship with his firm. He accepted the position despite the opposition of his mother, who before he left, had him enter an arranged marriage with his cousin, two years his junior from the ancestral village of Paneli, Emibai Jinnah. Jinnah's mother and first wife both died during his absence in England. Soon after his arrival in London, Jinnah gave up the apprenticeship in order to study law. He had an admirable taste for houses and a whimsical architectures. He owned five houses on record, but used only four. Informally known as the ‘Jinnah House,’ his first house was named ‘South Court’ and was built in 1936 at a then enormous price of 2 lakh (200,000) rupees when Jinnah returned to Mumbai from England to take charge of the Muslim League. The house is now worth around $60 million. It is located at 2, Mount Pleasant Road in the upmarket Malabar Hill area of South Mumbai. He also owned a house in Hampstead, one of the very posh areas in London, and stayed there during his time in England. Another house owned by Jinnah is located at 10, Aurangzeb Road, Delhi. He bought it, unlike the Bombay house. The other two houses are in Pakistan- one in Karachi and the other in Quetta where he spent his summers and also the last days of his life. He always had two cooks, an Indian and an Irish. Jinnah’s favorite food was curry and rice. He always smoked his favorite ‘Craven A cigarettes,’ one of the finest and the most expensive, at the time. He smoked a special kind of ‘Havana’ cigars, and sometimes a pipe. Clearly a very attractive man, he prided himself for his appearance. He was said to never wear the same silk tie again and had nearly 200 tailored suits in his wardrobe. His tall, lean physique and his liking for good clothes enabled him to wear clothes with flair, confidence and conviction. With his monocle, clipped accent and Saville Row suit, his mimicry of the upper class Englishmen in India was so accurate, that he was classified as the perfect upper class gentleman of his day. There are pictures available of him where certain brand names were spotted on his possessions- the brands which ere the expensive ones in present time. It is indicated of Jinnah to possess highly delicate English speaking skills. These speaking skills can be attributed to the keen interest he took during his adolescent years in reading Shakespeare and being an actor. His sister frequently recounted his love for reading Shakespeare to the family after dinner at his residence in Karachi. He had two loves of his life- one was who became his second wife, Ruttie Dinshaw, a Parsi lady whom Jinnah married and the other love was Pakistan which he is known as the founder of. Yes, the gentleman later on became a politician who fought for Muslims and gave us this country taking it from the English and Hindus. The man is commonly known to be Quaid e Azam for which he has all our love and respect rather than Muhammad Ali Jinnah whose sense of style and taste made him the fifth best dressed leader of all time. But now, we for sure know that he knew how to impress others and had a class which people still look out for.
