Ulog #18 Hospital Ministry

in #ulog6 years ago

Mat 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

For my Western friends, going to a hospital here is not even similar to a hospital in most other places.

I am not being critical, but just stating facts.

  • One room may have 16 patients.
  • Many patients are not assigned a room as the hospitals seem to stay above capacity.
  • People without a room assignment are lined up in the hallways and stairs.
  • There are private and semi private rooms. Cost for a private room is about $50 USD per night.

Hospitals are wide open for ministry

Many people are wanting to minster to others. I have found hospitals, no matter where you are in the world, a perfect place to pray for the sick. Encourage others in the scriptures and to show practical love to those who are hurting or to family members thhat have loved ones in the hospital.

My wife and I went to visit on particular person, but we wound up ministering, praying for and comforting with the scriptures many others.

As we finished praying for one person, more people were already asking for us to come to them. By the time you minister to everyone in the room, people are coming from the next room, grabbing you by the hand and bringing you to the bedside of their loved one. One visit can turn into hours of ministry.

I have a neighbor who was hungry and climbed a coconut tree to get some food. When he got close to the top, he met a snake face to face. He jumped out of the tree and suffered a compound fracture of the femur of one leg. This poor guy was taken to the hospital, but stayed in a bed there for 5 days before a bone specialist could take time to see him.

Not on this visit, but just to give you an idea of the conditions. Imagine you are a parent of this baby who suffered servere burns from something spilling on her. You rushed your child to the hospital and they don’t have a room for her. They give her a bed and put it in the hallway. The entire time she is there, no room is freed up.

This is what happened for this little girl.

Many don’t want to do ministry like this because it makes them sad and uncomfortable. Minster in the original language means servant.

I love in the scripture above how Jesus equates when we visit someone who is sick, He looks at it like we visited Him. What a wonderful thought and truth. Inasmuch as you did it unto the least of these my brethren, you did it unto me.

Many times there are people who cannot afford the medicine or treatment they need. Usually my pockets are empty when I leave.

God bless!

This reality is so hard.

This is what we see frequently. I have never posted the worse.

That was so good of you and your wife to pray for the sick. Being a servant of our Almighty is a great calling.

I love what we do! All for Jesus! Thanks for your comments.
God bless!

Am still short of words on what to say.

God, if thou art there.
Your handiwork needs help.

Amen! This is the work of a missionary! Not always glamorous! Makes a person a person of prayer and depennce on the Lord! Thanks for commenting!

Hmmm May God heal them all.
