Seventeen Years ago, My wife Jemma and I moved from the city of Salisbury in the UK to the Beautiful volcanic Island of Lanzarote, which lays of the coast of North africa, and is part of the Island archipelago of the Canary's.
We moved mainly to free ourselves of the everday trudge that is most peoples existence day to day.
To try and live life in a simple way.
We bought a fair sized pice of ground in a village, It had an old workshop already there which we converted to our new home, nothing fancy just a bedroom bathroom kitchen and lounge. And built a sneaky extension bedroom with ensuite for our friends and family. The people you really can't live without.
The ground is very rocky but we have managed over the years to cultivate some flowers a few herbs and of course palm trees and cactus.
Our great pride is our solar electric and water heater, which we installed three years ago. So we no longer rely on fossil fuel for that.
OUR VERY OWN POWER PLANT

2015-03-26 20.06.37.jpg

It consists of, a charge controller, an inverter to change the electric from DC 24 volts to AC 240 volts. Four 6 volt batteries and 9 PV solar panels on the roof. So simple, and we have free electric for our everyday needs.
Well thats an introduction to Mr and Mrs. Smith
Or Andy and Jemma to our friends. And now Budding Celebs. on #ulog 😎😎 Namaste and Blessings.
If you would like to see our photos. All of them are at #lanzarote enjoy.

I love this story, we all want to know so much more and see photos of your very exotic place and the flowers in your garden. We live partially off grid as well. Took a huge plunge and left a huge city of 6 million to live in a town of 500. Four provinces away, with a completely different lifestyle. Huge Paradigm Shift. We have our own well water and heat with wood pellets and also a wood stove. Welcome to Ulog!! Congrats on getting there so very quickly. You pioneer you. I am still trying to figure out, the difference from whatever we were sharing on Steemt. Your favorite fellow Steemians are so proud of you, our buttons are bursting. Please keep sharing and keeping us informed and intrigued. Namaste...Great Blog. :)))

Thank you so much Marion your praise, and encouragment have been unfailing on my journey through steemit. I will certainly post more in the days and weeks to come Namaste my friend..

Always interested in helping a fellow Steemian on this new journey we have here :)))

Wow, this is great, now I know you better. An amazing family, welcome again to ulogs.

Thanks Edith. I look forward to posting more soon.

You are welcome dear

I’ts never easy moving home especially when it involves moving to a different country also but from all you have told me and written about @andyjem you and Jemma have not regretted making your decision to move to Lanzarote. Your photos are very interesting and give us a real sense of the place. Thank you for sharing. 🌺

Yes Trudee I beleive you too moved from New Zealand, so you know the ups and downs of settling in a new country. But life is to short not to give it a go.
And thanks for you kind words. :))

Sorry for the late reply Andy. Yes, Life is too short to not give things a go and we are so pleased we made the move to Australia........but I do miss New Zealand a lot.

No apology necessary. We all have busy lives and sometimes there are so many comments we can't get to them all. Only one stretch of water water between you but so far away. Glad you are enjoying your new life. 💜

Thank you Andy. Yes, the distance between Australia and new Zealand is not far but its usually comes down to the expense of travelling there. We'd go back a lot more if we could afford it. A lot of kiwi's live in Australia during the winter and go home during the summer. Its a great idea.

Yes we say the same Trudee, it always comes down to money. We would love to travel back to the UK at the drop of a hat. But its just not possible.

True @andyjem......what we'd like to do and what we can do financially are often not very compatible are they? I hope you are well and enjoying life my friend.

Omg this is so great!! Welcome to the #ulog family Andy and Jemma!!!!

Thanks Lyndsay. I think it maybe what we old TSUvians have been looking for. Glad to join you x

Hello sis, howdy do?
