My grandad saw one once - on his farmland (about 2 am in the morning) -from his bedroom window. 'a bright silver light, cigar shaped', as he explained it.
He walked up the fields later that day, ( he wasn't too concerned about it - it was till hovering - when he went back to sleep! lol)
....and he found a 30 yd circumference of scorched grass.
He never reported it or anything. - But I guarantee whatever he said was legit.
Down to earth farming stock. Not a lie in him.
