The 1999-2000 Champions League was the 45th version of this tournament, and the eight season where the name of the tournament was changed from “European Cup” to “UEFA Champions League”. It was held between 14 September 1999 and 24 May 2000.

32 clubs competed in the tournament. 157 matches were played with 442 goals scored. An average of 2.82 goals per match.

Four clubs were able to qualify to the semi-finals; Real Madrid, Valencia, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona. Three teams out of four from the Spanish Division.

The final game of the tournament was held in Stade de France, Paris, in 24 May 2000 between Real Madrid and Sevilla.
The Spanish club was able to win the the final game 3-0, and clinch their 8th European title.

“Mário Jardel” from Porto, “Rivaldo” from Barcelona and “Rául” from Real Madrid were named the top goalscorers of the tournament, scoring 10 goals each one of them in the 1999-2000 UEFA Champions League.
