this is a very nice reflection of what is happening in our society. it is reflected in the kind of books that are popular, the kind of articles that gain readership and type of writing style that is followed.

the very first victim is vocabulary. there are many words that are deemed old english. Or worse, too complex. each word in the vocabulary has a different connotation otherwise they would not exist.

the second is the ability to digest dense prose. without being able to comprehend weighty writing, our imaginations don't take flight.

thirdly, everything written is too vivid in terms of images. they are spoiling our ability to crunch information and extract the essence.

the natural fallout is the recycling of apathy. nothing moves the needle except outlandish or garish literature.
