Trump to 50 Muslim Leaders: "Drive Out the Terrorists!... Drive Them Out! Drive Them Out!"
Most of us understand that there is a difference between Islam as a religion, and Muslims as people. Some of us do not understand the nature of Islam. Not every Muslim is a terrorist, nor believes in the slavery of infeidels. However, the religion has both a religious AND a political foundation.
I did not finish putting the second half of this together, but it's a good start for understanding about the religion:

Most Muslims do not support terror.
However, those that do control the theological and political centers of Islam as it exists today
Muslims have several choices, but the biggest one is to stand with the West against the terrorist direction of the religion, or to "submit" (Islam means submission) to the leadership of terrorists.
Muslims that choose the first have to reform Islam; there can be no ambiguity about whether terror or violence is allowed, or encouraged, by scripture. This reform must come from within Islam...it cannot be imposed by the West.
The only way that modern thinking Muslims can make this reform happen is by taking the side of the West and destroying everyone committed to the Islamist ideology.
Osama Bin Laden said this:

Trump is committing the United States to be the strong horse, and asking the Muslim world to choose.
Trump said everything short of looking into their eyes, one by one, and saying 'stop it'.
Have you ever seen an angry parent pick their kid up by their underpants, and haul them away? That's what I felt like I was watching. I don't know how they feel about losing face in Saudi Arabia, but I'd say they just lost some. Unless it was for show, I hope it wasn't.

I think he gave them some face-saving in implying that Iran, who most of them hate anyway, was the bogeyman here; he sets them straight while allowing them to pretend someone else is doing it, and most of the royals don't want to get martyred for jihad anyway

That is a book I have not read.
In some cultures face, saving, losing, or otherwise, is of the utmost importance. It reminds me of the time George H.W. Bush was in Japan. He was on too many drugs, he vomits on the Prime Minister and passes out, almost falling under the table.

In this sense Islam and Christianity are two of a kind. Most Christians do not support bombing the middle east continuously but those in power do anyway. How can Americans stop the blood shed when no matter how they vote they get the same results?
this is a hard one to answer.
to be upfront, I have supported the bombing to some degree; my support for intervention has grown weaker as the neocons have been exposed as statist shills even to true believers like me.

part of that is it seems there was no focus to the bombing, or to the intervention at all. Arming ISIS in Syria while killing them in Iraq is definitely the work of corruptocrats. People that used bright shining lies to hide their theft under blood.
But ISIS, and other Islamist groups are a danger to liberty. There are many corrupt and tyrannical groups that cooperate with each other; the Deep State and ISIS are such.
Is Trump honest about an actual war against extremists, or is it more of the same?
I can see why many think the second, and I won't try to convince them of the first. Time will tell on that score.
