Three appointments to the Supreme Court in a single term.

Trump has had three appointments to the Supreme Court in only four years. The previous three presidents each had only two in eight years, I wondered if three is a record for a single term.

It is not. Washington had the most appointments, with 11 over two terms. But, of course, he had to appoint the whole court. John Adams had three in his one term.

Lincoln had five appointments in his first term and Benjamin Harrison had four in his one term. Taft has the record for a single term, six, two of which were still on the court when Taft became Chief Justice.

Harding had four appointments in the three years he was president and Hoover had three in his one term.

FDR had no appointments in his first term, which is why he wanted to pack the court, but five in his second term and eight altogether.

Nixon had four in his first term.

James Monroe was president for eight years but had only one appointment, the same number as James Garfield, who was president for only six months.

Every president who served a full term had at least one appointment, except for Jimmy Carter. Andrew Johnson, who served almost a full term, had none because Congress reduced the number of justices to make sure he did not appoint any.
