Sigil For A Wedding Present, Part 5

Encaustic & Mixed Media on Found Cupboard Door; Work-in-Progress, 16 x 20 inches

The problem with encaustic is that it does not hold all the time. I have not figured it out. So I took the crushed can lid and used a screw to attach that to the frame part of the piece. Nothing I do is ever perfectly centered either, which drives me nuts, but it has to be so because these materials are one-of-a-kind and so once I drill the hole - it's done. I have always had the inability to live up to my perfectionism. Oh Well.

Next, I added another layer of modpodge on top of the purple mesh plastic to stop it from fraying and then I accidentally started adding these purple sequins which I like...

It's still not done done but almost. I have to leave it for now till I get more inspiration.

It is looking so wonderful, Joanna ! And I can feel it is almost where it has wanted to be, as well :) I look forward to seeing this completed !!!

I think your imperfections, such as a few things being off balanced, is actually endearing and it gives the artwork such a human touch, which in turn, lends it your energies :)

I totally appreciate this comment because I do take out the bat on myself over this - I am a perfectionist but I had to give it up because I am absolutely incapable of doing anything anywhere near perfectly that i simply HAD to just make stuff and hope for the best but it still does bother me. I truly do appreciate your point of view on this - it is very helpful!

How can you get all of these awesome upvotes and digital monies yet, not have any comments?? It pleases me to be the first! This work is amazeballs! Thanks for sharing! Upvoted and resteemed!

thank you so much for commenting! I really appreciate it - used to be that we had great conversations on here, but that seems a think of the past... and thanks for the resteem... blessings to you!

Yeah, too many folks on here "can't afford" to interact with the blockchain these days. That is why I put all of my Steem into Steempower so I could at least socialize a bit. No problem! Blessings to you as well!

I was homeless once...

Was it a good experience, or a hellish one? So far, our experience has been good but, only because we have the skills to make money on the street the legit way. Only had to panhandle a few times. Sleeping in the snow/rain sort of sucked but, it is what it is.

it was ok... i was actually couchsurfing and then living in my car for a very short while and then I was able to barter cleaning and a little $ for a room in a house and gradually able to get back on my feet, but the whole mental condition of that time was one of complete raw desperation so i would prefer not to go back to it... rather live on land in the country off the grid and not have the survival pressures of the city.

There ya go! Living proof that we are masters of our own destiny. Thanks for the chat!

I thought it was done at first sight. Only after reading your post I understood that there is more work that you would like to do on it. Nevertheless it looks like it has a soul of its own. It is very creative to assemble different mediums to create an authentic artwork.

Your work is simply beautiful. Thank you, again.. In the middle of a sea of "heavy" posts, I saw your beacon of hope and light and JOY that simply reinforces the knowledge change is not only possible, but certain, and that we can channel it in the loveliest of ways.

@ecoTrain

why thank you @artemislives! I really appreciate the good tidings... honestly - it helps me so much to have someone out there respond to my work... it falls on deaf ears here where I live - but that's just my path. I have to live where I live- but definitely need that affirmation that someone "gets" it - truly... I believe that we just have to keep our chins up and keep striving for perfection in this world, despite how grim it looks - just keep putting our best foot forward, no matter what...

I went for this whole past year practically with artist's block just because I know too much about what is going on and I just felt that what could my tiny contribution do? Finally, after the accident, when I was stuck in that hospital bed, making sigils for my own healing - I realized that that was the false idea -

I realized that I have to put my contribution out there - because the world wants me to think that what I have to say does not matter but that is simply not true. Each one of us has within us the spark of the living Creator... and it is our duty to contribute it, however we can, whenever we can...because when we pass from this world to the next we want to know that we did everything we could here...

sorry if this is too heavy, but it's what I live with every day when I have to throw away a plastic package or get gas for my car or contribute in anyway to this system of death we live in in the USA - but that's why I put my artwork up on Steemit - to just have a little interaction with another human being from the creative standpoint about saving the world... even if it is just through the uplift we each receive from the communication with one another.

Here I sit, in my boyfriend's house, he's at work and I am sitting here with no vehicle, healing from the accident, and I am working on the homesteaders coop again today, I guess. I got an intuitive thought this morning to redraw all the sigils for the coop instead of trying to use technology to fix my old photos... I feel like I am in slo-mo and maybe I am - can't get home to the studio to work on the paintings - maybe its' making me more grateful for what I do have - being without having everything I want at my fignertips every moment - but again - thank you for your sweet comments.

By the way, I did check out your store - Thailand must be a wonderful place to live... I am guessing. Peace...
