Why meditation is the most important habit to maintain

@whatamidoing

Why Meditation is the most important habit to maintain
With so much endless change and fluctuation in my life, I find it hard to maintain certain habits. I often go through bursts of inspiration to work on something or to study something, to exercise or meditate and somehow without even noticing, I drop it after a week or two or maybe a month. I try not to feel guilty about it but in the back of my mind I wish I could focus better.
With a sudden and unexpected change in location, job hunting, suddenly having lots of friends and activities, health problems, money problems, writing, music, steemit and promoting my work, it became all too easy to forget about meditation.

Does materialism make people treat each other like objects?

@wombloom

I have been thinking about how there is often no real contact between people even though we interact. I have seen often that people don't really see each other. Instead we often see something in the other person that is very much preset in our minds. I was wondering what that preset something was and came to the concept of materialism.
Yes, so materialism makes us prioritise matter above spirit, wether it is because we feel it's more important, or believe that focussing on the spiritual leaves us in scarcety material-wise, or even that we think the world of spirit doesn't exist. However we put it:
Materialists think in terms of matter. So matter comes first in life.
And I even want to make that definition more broad: Any time we are trying to 'HAVE' something, instead of 'BEING' something, we are being materialsistic in my opinion.

Psychic Attacks- Humans Are Attacking Other Humans And Don't Even Realise It!

@tonysayers33

So just what are psychic attacks? To answer this question we must first understand how energy works in relation to how humans interact with each other.
Everything is energy, every thought, every action, and every intention. We come unstuck because we think that everything we do is just purely physical. This control system has hoodwinked us into beLIEving that everything we do only impacts the 3rd-dimensional realm when in fact we are multidimensional beings. So to ask the question what are psychic attacks we must first understand that fundamental truth.

Abstractions Part 6: You Are The Music .. Surfing The Soundwaves Of A Fractal Reality

@perceptualflaws

As anyone that follows my blog will be aware of, I'm a huge music fan. I'm lucky enough to have some friends in the music industry, so I often get invited to see bands and festivals. Throughout the summer I've been watching and indeed feeling the energy of the crowd. I've been thinking about how their dance, their energy and happiness could be indicative of something deeper.
Certainly, As a species, we're instinctively drawn towards rhythmic sound patterns. We only need to look at children (and indeed babies) to see that their love of music and dance is not learned but is derived from a subconscious memory, a memory that potentially speaks to the vibratory essence of who we are. It is said that music is a universal language that connects all humanity, and whilst I believe that is very much true I also believe it both speaks to and connects us to the resonating nature of our collective reality.

Earth Deeds - Volume 1 - Leave No Trace - CONTEST ENTRY ARTICLE

@elamental

Recently I have been writing about how I help the Earth in my every day life in little ways that add up. Usually I just live my life, and do these things without really talking about it much, but writing about it on Steemit and the amazing feedback that has been generated, has really inspired me to continue writing about how I reduce my carbon footprint in my every day life. My recent realizations through these sharing experiences, has also granted me awareness of the importance of publishing my strides for living in better harmony with the Earth, no matter how small of a difference I think I have made.
Today I challenge everyone to start documenting their Earth conscious efforts on Steemit in a short post AT LEAST once a week. The more of us that show the rest of the world how easy it is to help the environment, the more people will also start taking action in their every day lives, and the impact you have with your otherwise "small" eco-friendly actions, will become even greater.

400 posts ... what shall I do?

@wwf

There is a lot of stuff going on in the world, so I thought I would dedicate this post to exploring what I actually do about it all. For me, talk is cheap, action speak louder than words. So rather than speculate, whine or complain about shit, I'm going to share the actions I take.
School
The public school system pitched God out the window and is now exposing children to ideas that are best left for adults with mature emotional, mental and physical bodies. Children just don't have the maturity to deal with the politics that is unfolding in the public or private schools. How can a young mind deal with complex issues when they don't have enough live experience to even comprehend the consequences of their decisions or actions? That is why they need to be protected and nurtured so that they can gain the confidence and abilities to make informed decisions when they come of age.
What did I do?

A Heartfelt Thank You To All Of Ya!!!

@paradigmprospect

For years I have been producing media to help people reconsider their assumed role in life, to find angles that can lead the way to a larger understanding of what reality might be and to spread abundance-furthering information to help overcome the scarcity-based debt-paradigm we have inherited from our parents and their parents' parents.
And as many of you know, walking a path that collides with system interests is never easy, but arguably: worth it.
When I came to Steemit I felt my reality shift, it was like my calls for a way to merge my interests into one thing finally came true. Here was this platform that allowed me to fuse my seemingly irreconcilable passions, experience and knowledge into one coherent diary, and the people I have met since then have been the most empathic and supportive I have ever encountered on a social media platform.

Reishi Bliss Balls, A Good Cuppa and Some Shroomy Explorations.

@riverflows

I'm a little bit scared of mushrooms. There's something very old, and very intimidating about them, as if you have to hush and bow before their feet in reverent awe of these wild wise forest men. There's things they seem to know, so burrowed into the trees and the damp Autumnal soils are they. Other plants are more definitely showy, bursting forth in radiant brilliance, huge swathes of leaves and colour. They are what they are. Mushrooms, however, are hidden things, shy things, to me, old and sagacious druids. Hence, when someone gave me a pack of reishi mushroom powder, I thought I'd better do some burrowing myself, to see what exactly this ancient funghi was all about, as if I need to know the background gossip before I even broached conversation with it.

An Eternity on Earth: Grounding the Mystery, Inhabiting the Mundane

@mountainjewel

This morning I'm challenging myself to write a different sort of article than usual.
It's easy to write articles about plants and homestead life, but sometimes it's nice to streeeetch and press the bounds of other parts of my brain.
Over the past two days I've read 2 books by Louise Erdrich, "The Round House" & "Future Home of the Living God".
Erdrich writes superbly about complex life themes with Native American roots.
"The Round House" kept me wrapt with beating attention the entire time. It also made me think about living in a woman's body and the lack of safety (the book started off with a violent rape of an indigenous woman and continues as the mystery unfolds of who did it and why). "Future Home of the Living God" also set my mind thinking as it takes place in a dystopian present where all of our worst fears come true, food becomes unavailable and women are turned into "breeders" as the world increasingly becomes unsafe for human life.

National Preparedness Month: Starting Your Own Seed Bank

@goldendawne

Starting Your Own Seed Bank
Gardeners and homesteaders know what it means to harvest seeds from their current garden for future plantings. We also know that using heirloom seeds is important; some say the taste and flavor of the crop plays a role, but the most important part is being able to preserve the genetic background of plants when growing and using heirloom seeds.
In this DTube video I explain my reasons for starting a seed bank of my own, what my future plans are for one, how to organize the seeds and keep track of important information for each seed.
Having my own seed bank readily available for my homestead has many purposes:
Being able to expand foods I can preserve in my pantry
Having variety
Participating in seed swaps
Having a well-stocked seed bank in the event of economic collapse, weather calamity hindering my ability to purchase certain foods or other disaster that could prevent me from being able to provide food for my family

The Gravity of an Individual

@ladyofliberty

Prospects of Freedom
This is an article for those out there that are seeking solutions. This is for people who, in whatever their interest or field may be, are looking to solve their own piece of the puzzle of humanity. Whether it be social, political, economic, psychological, spiritual, or so on, those that despite the chaotic confusion are devoted to seeing the big picture and using their individual power to lighten the burden of humanity, if only a little.
This is relevant to both the economic side and the philosophical side of such a venture. This is an affirmation that what we are creating here is real and meaningful. The seeking to bring light to our fellow species is archaic.

Food that LOVES & HEALS You | Eating 1 Fruit for 3 Days #detoxchallenge!

@enjoyinglife

I've been speaking a lot about fruitarianism lately as I believe it has huge healing potential. If you ask me, consuming the right fruits in the right way has the potential to heal every single disease there is.
You probably wonder, why is that so? Well, the answer is simple, majority of modern diseases is caused by ingesting wrong things in ourselves.
The food industry's main & only priority is PROFIT. They'll do everything in their power to make as shitty products as possible & pay tons of money to convince you how that is the right product for you.
That's why, when you come in the mainstream supermarket, you most likely won't find anything that's good for you. FOOD FROM THE BOX is slave food, read the ingredients carefully & you'll notice why is that so.

Habits, Body Energy, & What I Have Experienced so Far

@phillyc

Greetings Beautiful Friends
One of the things that I am intensely interested in. in this life - is our life energy as expressed through the body.
Many people like to boil things down to simply the physical. There is a focus on the organs, the cells, hormones, neurotransmitters, and all of the various other complex body functions. This is a useful perspective, but it can easily become very deterministic. The body is one of our expressions, but is it really all there is to us?
How we feel, how we function, and the state of our energy goes far beyond just adjusting the physical variables.

Satellite Data Study Shows Earth Has More Trees Than It Did 30 Years Ago

@johnvibes

There is no doubt that the world is facing serious environmental problems, from trash and chemicals in the ocean to toxic fumes in the air.
However, a new study led by Xiao-Peng Song and Matthew Hansen of the University of Maryland gives us some good environmental news for a change, there are more trees on the planet than they were 30 years ago. The researchers used data taken by satellites from 1982 to 2016 and found that despite ongoing deforestation and forest fires, the world’s tree cover actually increased by 2.24 million square kilometers, which is an area the size of Texas and Alaska combined.

You're Still Supporting Animal Exploitation

@krishool

How far should one take exploitation in relation to the treatment of human and non-human animals?
A phrase commonly used by Vegans is 'You're still supporting animal exploitation'.
However, considering how easy it is to be participating in animal exploitation, it's worthwhile examining the areas of one's own complicity before pointing out where others may do better as we all fall short of the mark in one way or another.
What's this, you have non-vegan friends? You're supporting animal exploitation.
Do you work at a place that serves meat and dairy?
Have you delivered a cheese pizza to someone?
Do you buy items from a store that sells non-vegan products?
Are you trying to improve the welfare conditions of farmed animals that are in horrible living conditions?

Probably The Best Parenting Advice You'll Read! Don't say No! Never praise, complement, or reward. no demands or punishments! The real roots and meaning of NonViolent Communication.

@eco-alex

There is no rule book on parenting, and there definitely isn't one way that is right for everyone. The choices and decisions you make will depend on you, your child, your culture, location and life situation. With that said, there are some general things that I think applies to almost everyone, because they are about developing character and qualities that can give your child (and your family) a rich, and beautiful life. Building character and shaping a child’s behaviour is something some parents try to do intentionally, whilst others let a child’s natural tenancies develop without any attempt to change it. Whatever path you may choose, there are very strong messages and 'rules' being learned by your child due to the way in which you communicate with them and the things you say, and more importantly the words you use.

Let's Daydream: Steem First Down To $0.10 And Then Up To $800

@flauwy

Crypto bloodbath! On days like these it can be fun to ponder the mind about wild scenarios that could or could not happen. Today mine is this: Will we see Steem at $0.10 again? No, this is no FUD post but rather a wild speculation. In all the 15 months I am on Steemit I have never seen Steem at $0.75 and Bitcoin might sink much further and pull the alt-coins into the abyss. What sounds horrible for hodlers might actually be the opportunity of our lifetime. Let's Daydream!
Think about it: Even though a $0.10 price for Steem sounds nearly unthinkable for such a massive and potential blockchain, it all depends how many investors keep hodling.

The Physiology of Chronic Pain: Gate Control Theory of Pain [Dabbing with a Mage episode 162]

@alchemage

The sensation of pain is a very peculiar thing as it is a psychological response to a physical stimulus. The Gate Theory to Pain brought the connection between the two together for the first time. This theory states, in gist, that the more nonpain sensation in ratio to pain sensation the less pain that is actually transmitted. It works through a series of nerves, neurons and interneurons. Join me in today's episode as I discuss how this system is theorized to work.

Western Osha harvest! Thoughts on careful wildcrafting.

IMG_3813 2.JPG

@ofsedgeandsalt

These past few weeks I have spent most of my time outside. And off grid, and off the internet, save for an hour at a cafe, or at the library in the middle of rural Idaho once a week. Sometimes I revel at where I find myself. I have so many posts I want to do and limited time on the internet, but I thought I'd share a few photos and thoughts on my recent wild Osha harvest in the Wallowa mountains of eastern Oregon.

Burning Man 2018: Describing the Indescribable

@lukestokes

Over seventy thousand beautiful humans expressing their individuality in the middle of nowhere. Overused words like awesome and amazing begin to recapture original meaning when describing the event. The sounds, the lights, the music, the art, the beauty, the humanity...
I've had so many people tell me Burning Man is indescribable. Pictures and words just can't do it. They were right.
But I still have to try. I've had a number of people ask me how my first Burning Man experience went. I've been processing my thoughts for days, and I'm still not clear how to communicate everything that Burning Man is and what this experience meant to me. I guess I'll just start from the beginning and see where it goes.

In my reality, this is what I see and this is how I feel

@trucklife-family

I love living in the mountains, nestled in the valley, and none more so than when there is a thunder storm. It has rained most of the day and amongst all that rain has been the thunder. At one point there was continuous rumbling for 20 minutes, non stop.
The sound of that thunder bouncing off the mountains and rumbling down this valley was pretty darn awesome. I lay on the couch with my youngest daughter wrapped in a blanket next to me, engulfed by the sudden darkness and the notion of how very small we are on this earth. Yet how very well the earth takes care of us.
It is pretty obvious that we all need a healthy planet in order to thrive, in order to be healthy and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

A big thank you to @hungryhustle for creating the amazing infographic of the 8 Pillars Of TribeSteemUp and For @eco-alex for creating the tribesteemup banner and logo.
