I frequently stalk the light, the thing that brings life to a photo, leaving an artistic taste in my mouth. I am in favor of color peeking out from the urban landscape, making it a softer, gentler place to inhabit.

Let me grow in the vision of love and delight.

Today, we peruse the likes of #TreeTuesday initiated by @Old-Guy-Photos! It's time to pull out those trees! Let's see what you have!

It saddens me to watch as the fall has faded into oblivion, right before my very eyes. But, there is beauty in the demise of things, we just have to shift our focus to finding it. And when I looked again, she had turned a shade of brown, right downtown. Must I even admit that it brought on a frown? Indeed. And now, it is time to shift my thoughts.

We all know how Denise loves her tree, the ones that she passes every day...every day. And while you many get tired of seeing it every week or three, there is a certain closeness with the recognizability based on our long association.

Le sigh

Touch me. I do it every time.
I love to run my hands up and feeling how it feels.
Taking my hands and running along with the texture of the bark.
There are so many ways.
To describe how it feels.
Rough, scaly, beautiful, to only name a few.
I love you, my tree, yes I do.

A woodland walk among the leaves
Guided by the gentlest breeze
Branches so golden and roots, deep still in the earth
Shading my life from the decades that are spinning
Until
One day
My tall, sturdy knight
Standing through the weather
the seasons of life
In this world that I had created
An all-knowing sense
Of truth, as we know it

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
