City of the first cannon

Just 110 kilometers from Sofia, in the mountains there is a city-museum. In Bulgarian reserve. Koprivshtitsa called, read "Koprivshtitsa." This city is included in hundreds of Bulgarian tourist sites. And there, indeed, there is something to see, because almost every house is a museum and a hotel.

This is a real Bolyarsky house (means boyarsky). Owners-descendants made him a hotel (guest check).

Here is such a number, that is, everything is absolutely real and absolutely old, cost us 20 euros a night for three years ago. Very large room. Everything is there: a bathroom, satellite TV, linen, several beds. In fact, this is just one of the rooms of a large mansion; you leave it to the staircase hall. So interesting, it's like living in an old castle. And since we always visit Koprivshtitsa in the fall, we lived here alone! In the whole house! And when they left, they simply put the keys "under the rug" and called the owner.

Since there is no heating in the house, electric radiators were poked everywhere. We go to Koprivshtitsa in the fall, because there are a lot of tourists in the summer: all kinds of festivals are held and no warmer than in the fall. The average temperature in August is +16 C, and in January -4 C.

In the summer, of course, the sun plays, but in the fall it is, in my opinion, so romantic and ... gothic!

Koprivshchitsa is all a continuous museum, every house, every stone, every monument, and the town itself has only two and a half thousand souls of the population.

What is famous for this city? Here began the national movement for liberation from the Turkish yoke. April Uprising April 20, 1876. Here the first gun fired!

This monument towers over the city. It is very large and a very long staircase leads to it.

Since we travel here regularly, local museums no longer interest us. Our tourism is reduced simply to walks through the streets and the surrounding mountains, to restaurants and research of local authentic hotels.

Here you get enough sleep, rest from everything.

The city is located at an altitude of 1060 meters above sea level, and is also the center of the Koprivshtitsa community and its only settlement. You can get here by bus: from Sofia, for about 5 euros, or by car - the road is very good. Previously, from Sofia there went the train, or rather the train. We loved it very much: it was so pleasant to go quietly, to chew something, to stare at the magnificent mountain landscapes and in just 2 hours to get to Koprivshtitsa, now we redid something, the trains began to go by a huge hook for many hours, and our railway ended promenade.
