My visit to Pompeii, #2
At last - we are in ancient Roman city Pompeii. Its location at the southeastern base of Mount Vesuvius and frivolity of local residents led to destruction.
Planning our trip, I read about Pompei. Of course, there is no lack of information: from tourist guides to documental video. But to say the truth, for me it was not the most desirable place to get to. And to be honest, it stuck me a lot.
I am a person that love to view and enjoy what I see. I want to enjoy views, architecture and nature. My husband prefer to enjoy the information. He loves history and technologies. Suddently, Pompeii united our interests.
First of all, right at the start we got a free map and there we realised that the Archeological Park itself is huge! The map was divided into 9 sectors (regions) and had 4 itineraries: 2, 3, 5 and 7 hours. There are places where you can eat and rest.
The dimensions of the city was that stuck me the most. The second my strong impression was the state of the buildings, statues, frescos. It was like we walked A REAL city - quaters, streets, houses with 2 floors. Buildings stands side by side, shopping areas and squares. All that had at least 2 000 years old, but was in phenomenal condition! Nothing in common with anything we'd seen before in Italy and wherever.
The secret is that it was burned too fast. Some people just didn't have time to escape or maybe even to unserstand what is happening...
Pompeii was an important place of industry and bussiness. Its inhabitantas were wealthy elite, professional craftsmen and ... slaves too. Its trading and service sector, as well as a style of life was likely to ours. There were public bathrooms and washhouse (laundry service), place for entertainments.
Strongly amaze the tracks from the wagons on the stone-paved road. You can only imagine how many years wagons went the streets ... before everything disappeared in a couple of hours. By the way, the shops were locked for a night. A large flat stone rolled in grooves, like modern doors in a compartment of a railway wagon.

I am loving these pictures, I have a real love for history so keep them coming !! I have a question for you, do you write down what you want to say for a post as it happens or do you wait until you are done the trip then make the post, and try to remember what you did? I am trying to learn how to make good content and some tips would be helpful, no one likes spamming useless content.
hello, @enosh. when I am on vacations or traveling, i usually have no time to make a quality post. anyway, sometimes i write a post on that very day i write about. but more often it takes time to sort photos, to make the editing. i am a busy person, so usually i post in some weeks or even months afterwards.
