Chitkul Village has the most cleanest air in India

in #travelfeed5 years ago

I was already in mountains and finish some work I have to leave to Delhi. In just few days I dad finished my job and again it was the time to reach to Himachal Pradesh. One day before leaving to Himachal I got a call from my friends, we all were on conference and it was not a discussion talk instead they were telling me that "be ready, we will pick you up today at 5".
I had no idea what was going on, they arrived at correct time and we left the Delhi in next three hours.
We are going to Chitkul, one said who was driving.
It was a 20 hour road trip from Delhi to Chitkul, we reached there around 5pm, slowly it was getting dark. We checked in a home stay and after having lunch all were slept after a wonderful day.
Chitkul is a small village lies on India-China border in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, North India. It is a last inhabited village on Indo-China border. The elevation of Chitkul village is 3450 meter from sea level. The village is set next to Baspa river.
Chitkul is mostly famous for its orgenic Potato's and Charang la pass (5242 meter). Specially the potato's are the best in the world. Charan la is used by devotees who does the holy circuit of Kinner kailash Shivling. So it was april and winters was not set down there. Next day when we woke up, it was snowing in the valley. The landscapes were beyond words. We had breakfast, clicked so many photos and visited the village.
Chitkul is the start point of Lamkhaga pass trek and Borasu pass trek, both treks leads to Uttrakhand. Nagasthi ITBP post is 4km ahead and Ranikanda meadows is 10km trek from Chitkul.
The recent research said that Chitkul has the most cleanest air in all India. Chitkul has one high school, homes are made by slate, mud, wooden and rocks, Buddhist temple, One Hindu temple and many ITBP barracks.
Chitkul is almost 589 km from Delhi and 28 km from Sangla valley. Chitkul is very cold and windy hence the NH-22 normally closes down around mid November after the first snowfall. Of the season.
There are HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) buses from Sangla to Chitkul on regular interval. Those buses will back to Sangla after 30 Minutes halt at Chitkul on every day. Last bus to Sangla is around 3:30 PM .
