A day in Mexico City in PicturessteemCreated with Sketch.

I'm back in Mexico City and I'm barely having time for myself.

My daily activities go from trying to get my Steem projects rolling, keeping up with the family I haven't seen in a while, doing city paperwork and at the same time trying to do some touristing around with @eveuncovered and @zlatan-spielberg, so obviously now you know why I haven't posted so much, but don't worry I'm still steeming behind the scenes and @steemonboarding is coming to shape more and more every day.

One of this days, meant walking around two of the most iconic spots in Mexico city: Reforma avenue and the small town center called Coyoacán.

Reforma Is one of the most important streets in Mexico City and it's also a touristic spot. Between all the office buildings and the traffic, the government decided to invest a lot of money in making it beautiful, because tourists were already walking by it every day.

Where there's no vegetation, the walls are covered by painting exhibitions and, where there's vegetation, sculptured occupy those spaces.

We walked for around 45 minutes looking for the entrance to the Chapultepec Park and Castle where you can find some local fauns, then go walk around the lake and then hike a small mountain where you can find a 250 years old castle and finish up with a visit to the museum but oh, surprise, most museums and local touristic spots are not open for public attendance on Mondays. I knew this, but it's been so long since I visited around Mexico City that I forgot :(

So we kept walking the beautiful avenue and we ran into a nice surprise.

Dogs are always a nice surprise and it's even better when you spot so many in one single place.

We pretty much reached the end of the touristic side of the Reforma Avenue, so we decided to hit another famours touristic spot, this one being a more bohemian/hippy side of the city: Coyoacán.

This is the perfect place to visit for someone who is not scared of being into a less mainstream touristic venue while still being somewhat normal to find a few tourists walking around with a big camera and thirst for the real Mexico City.

Back when Mexico City wasn't a megalopolis, there where a lot of small towns like Coyoacán, Tlalpan, Tacubaya and some others. These towns, now surrounded by buildings, streets and modern architecture, still preserve some of the traditions and general vibe they had 50-100 years ago: small streets, old buildings, ancient churches, parks, local markets and much more.

After waking around Downtown Coyoacán I got tired - I had a rough weekend, but you'll learn about it some other time - and sat down for a while.

I enjoyed the company of a very welcomed visitor!

And another one from a not so welcomed one

Anyway, we still had to hit the local market, especially since we were all hungry and some of the best Mexican dishes are those that are inside cheap, a bit dirty and very colorful places.

Overall, it was a good afternoon in Coyoacán, or if you may, The place of coyotes.

Sort:

Naww squirrel! Hoping to score a snack with its cuteness by the looks of things XD

So all those ancient towns got eventually swallowd up by urban sprawl? Good that they've managed to maintain some of their character and history :) Are there still coyotes around?

I cant wait to visit Mexico and explore one day. Looks lovely and so different from here, and the size of those squash in the market, wow! Would love to grow one that big :)

If you ever come here let me know, you´ll have a top notch guide - altough a bit lazy from time to time. Yess, all the colors and smells in a market are amazing, I´m sure you´d love it here :)

You sound like a fabulous guide, even if you forgot about the Monday thing. Markets are always fun, especially when you can find yummy meals there. I think the coyote statue is my favorite. 😊

Oh I´m not that good, I´m a bit lazy and cranky sometimes haha but I do my best. There are coyote statues everywhere around the area, and some of them are hidden, so people search for them sort of like a treasure hunt :9

This makes me wanna hop on a plane! I love these markets you show here, they remind me of the ones in Spain I visit regularly.

The markets are a full experience for someone who is not used to them, especially from Europe. Something tells me you would love market hoping :D

Sweet pictures, man! Makes me feel like walking around on Reforma or Coyoacan again. I haven't been much out and about myself since I'm back in the city. Oh, and thanx for mentioning my neighborhood of Tacubaya! :-)
Anyway, I know you're probably as busy as I am these days, but if you feel like up for it, we should meet up sometime. Shall we give it another try?

Nice to discover the places you visit in your journey👍😁 I love that sculpture of the color crayons😍🖍and that dogs!!!🐶💕and the cute squirrel!!😊 Hey I have a cousin who lives in Monterrey city and say everything is spicy🙆‍♀️ Órale mano!🌶🤣

Mexico City is great for the gastronomy as well! The times I have been there, I have had some great food. Unfortunately, my time there has been on business and have spent more time in traffic than actually being able to walk around!

I have a way with animals you know :P

This was really awesome and that small town looks like it would be a really cool place to visit. I like the smaller areas like those that tend to keep their charm even when the big cities pop up around them. Thanks for sharing this post. Though busy it sounds like you folks are having a great time in Mexico. It probably won't be long before you get a little restless and are ready to move along though :)

Thanks for walking through Mexico City! I like the promenade, the Reforma avenue. Especially the sculptures.
I noted with amazement how much cities resemble each other. The Avenue Reform resembles many streets in European cities.
The place of coyotes is full of life and I think a tourist should go there.
