Welcome to the 143rd edition of #traveldigest! Enjoy!
As always all posts featured here will be put on our Editors Choice Map.

Hi. It's @choogirl here. Well, it's the last day of February which marks the official end of summer in Australia. For some dumb reason, the Australian summer starts on the 1st December and ends on 28th February, even though it doesn't start getting really hot until just before Christmas (summer solstice) and it doesn't start cooling down again until mid March (autumn equinox). So Aussies, don't put your togs away just yet. There's still a good three weeks worth of beach days left!

#1 Yosemite National Park, California, USA

@bluebottlefilms kicks off today with a gorgeous overnight camping trip in California's first protected area, Yosemite National Park. It became a National Park in 1890, largely thanks to John Muir who worried about the loss of wildflowers, and the giant sequoias trees being cut down for timber. His actions led to the creation of the current parks system in the United States. Yosemite itself is filled with dense pine forests that are home to deer and the odd black bear. The sheer cliffs of the western Sierra Nevada mountains that surround the Park are popular with rock climbers.

#2 Snowshoe tour, Allgäu Alps, Austria

Next, @mindscapephotos sets off on a snowshoe tour to in the Allgäu Alps, Austria. Arriving late due to navigational issues he makes it to Hochgrat Cable Railway near Lanzenbach, where he puts on his snowshoes and heads for the first summit, Hochgrat at 1833m. At the top he enjoys a beautiful panoramic view of the Swiss, Vorarlberg and Allgäu Alps. He then battles strong winds and -22C temperatures to reach the Rindalphorn summit at 1821m for a spectacular view of the Allgäu Alps above the clouds.

    #3 Johnson Canyon, Banff, Canada

Finally, @ladybug146 takes us on a family friendly hike at Johnson Canyon near Banff, Canada. Much of the hike is shaded by the trees, and most of the trail goes alongside a river, with many small waterfalls and rapids along the way. A secure yet narrow bridge will take you to the upper falls, but it is not for the faint of heart or those afraid of heights. Not many large animals roam the park due to heavy human traffic—come in the mornings if you want to avoid crowds—but it is filled with birds, chipmunks and squirrels.

The images by @bluebottlefilms are just incredible! They're amazing! Yosemite is on our list to hit next, that or Yellowstone, but with images like this it's hard not to put Yosemite ahead of the pack.

Well done everyone, these are great posts today! So exciting for Steemitworldmap!

When I see "Yosemite" I read it like "vegemite", but I'm not sure if that's how you pronounce it or not.

it's pronounced just like it's spelled, with the end sounding like E.T. =" yo-sem- E.T." if that helps, I struggled with that one for a long time too! Thanks for the feature btw. I think it's great and lots of fun what you are doing with travel digest and @steemitworldmap

    Lovely pictures!
