First trips to the interior of Córdoba! - our experiences

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Hello people!!! Reviewing some photo files we came up with to share with you what, we have just understood, has been the engine of this great travel project that lies ahead. It is about small walks that we have given the pleasure of making, together, to know places, rest, leave the city.

As we both studied in the City of Córdoba, most of these trips went to the mountains of the Province of Córdoba, Argentina.

Here we go, one of the first trips was to San Marcos Sierras, it is a town located 150 km from Córdoba´s City. To get there we had to take a bus to Cruz del Eje and there wait at a service station, another smaller group that will take us to San Marcos. The latter left us in the town square, where we met some artisans who showed us the way to the campsites.

We walk a lot! And having a lot of backpack, tent, etc. weight, we stayed in the first campsite we found because we could not do it anymore. It is a beautiful place, super quiet. However, one of the night there was a very strong storm! The camping light was cut off. The wind closed the walls of the tent. I was very afraid, but Kevin knew how to mitigate my anguish and started proposing games and playing music. Finally we fell asleep, the storm passed, and the next day the weather was very nice and we could enjoy the river.

We were very happy to be alive after that night, something that surprised us a lot was that it fell a huge, rather than huge nest of birds, right next to our tent! that nest would not have caused many injuries, it was really very big!

Another destination was La Cumbrecita, a small town located in the Calamuchita Valley in the Sierras Grandes of the Province of Córdoba.

In La Cumbrecita there are many activities, from walking the community (walking, obvious, since it is a pedestrian village) and contemplate the harmony of its alpine style buildings, with vines, flowers on the sides of the trails, etc., until undertaking each one of the walks that arrive at different and beautiful places, some nearby, others not so much !!

As you walk through its streets, you can see various wooden sculptures. These are due to the fact that there was a very strong storm that destroyed much of the landscape, and to the fallen trees of greater antiquity and meaning for the town, it was decided to leave them in the place and carve in them these attractions, which reflect the identity of the place.

There are many beautiful places to go and take pictures, the landscapes are very similar to the Argentine Patagonia and has a German culture for the settlement of immigrants. It is a highly recommended town to visit in Cordoba.

In summer, this pot is a pleasure, crystal clear waters and a tremendous waterfall!

In one of the walks we met the natural sculpture of "the head of the Indian".

By sunset, we went to see the * lake of trout * which was solitary quiet. Just at that time the rainbow trout approach the surface of the water to eat insects, shining brightness with their silver backs justifying their name. A very charming scene!

Also, there is a hidden waterfall and underground river. The indications of the locals to reach the hidden waterfall are the following: "go down this road, in a moment you will find a valley where there is a birch and a large rock, there you have to deviate from the road and coast the river". We never found the waterfall, and when we got back we got lost at the top of the mountain !!

Even so the landscape that we had around, made us enjoy the journey despite the failure in the search.

The beauty of camping trips is to discover the fullness of nature itself. The simplicity of the landscapes, see nothing and everything at once.

Sincerely, we feel that the desire to breathe pure air with the smell of wild herbs to move our skeletons from our apartments to any corner of Cordoba.

Arming and sleeping in tent, cooking with the few utensils that are transported, make fire, bathe in a river, get up in the morning and breakfast in front of a natural landscape, walk and meet new people, meet people with other thoughts, enter markets new and see what things sell, the surprise of seeing different maps and travel their attractions, make friends with a stray dog (nacho, gustavito, ramoncito), anyway. We do not know how to describe what all this generates. But we know that it generates life and permanent encouragement to continue knowing more places on this planet. That is why in this blog we want to register in some way this great adventure that we will live from October 1, 2018.

We hope you liked these lines!

Until the next, greetings!

Kevin and Dani
