Petra - The red rose city

A majestic place that is 1,000 years old and holds tons of history once inhabited by the Nabataeans. It Consists of mesmerizing passages and gorges and gorgeous man-made structures carved in the mountains.

I walked for more than 6 hours, drank 5 liters of water, climbed 1800+ steps, rode a horse and a donkey and still couldn't see everything. One day is certainly not enough for this beauty.

If you ever visit this one of a kind place be sure to carry water bottles and snacks with you as you need to walk a lot and the bedouin people there are too keen to rip you off (perhaps just my experience). But they speak good English and keep you good company if you decide to eat or drink at their stall/restaurant. 

I'm sharing some of the pictures from my visit.

The Siq - This wonderful gorge leads you to The Treasury

High place of sacrifice - Where Nabataeans worshipped their gods and offered sacrifices to them.

Uneishu Tomb - The tomb of an ancient ruler

Going further up from The high place of sacrifice lead to some amazing views.

People were just sitting there grasping the vastness. Trust me it looks magical in real.

The Monastery - another magnificent structure that requires you to climb quite a lot of stairs. By the time you reach the bottom of the mountain leading to this place you tend to make a donkey your lifesaver. I sat on one to get to the top.
