Krishna Connection - Life at the Hare Krishna Eco Village (Original Poem):
Last year I had the privilege of staying at the Krishna Village located in Tyalgum, Australia.
The day consisted of waking up at sunrise, working in the organic gardens or helping prep food at the temple, yoga classes, and meeting interesting characters from around the world. We were eating fresh vegetarian food everyday, with vegan lunches cooked at the village and food provided three times a day at the temple, oh and I can't forget the Friday pizza nights by the fire.
Work was always done by midday so we had the rest of the day to explore the beautiful surrounding areas, or just hang out.
Stepping out of your tent, It was a magical experience from sunrise to sunset. Definitely a place I recommend anyone to visit. It is a place to go to allow yourself to just be, to shed layers of yourself that you no longer want to hold onto. To sit in silence and discover your true nature.
They have a volunteer program for WWOOFing, have yoga teacher training courses and permaculture courses (or you can just stay there as a guest) so check it out :)
This poem was inspired by the 2 weeks of volunteer work I undertook while my partner did his yoga teacher training.

A distant harmonious chant not only heard but felt as energy directed to the heart and throughout the entire being
Steps taken on a journey to arrive at a stopping point, a destination in one’s soul
For a movement away from one’s destructiveness which no longer serves purpose in your life
As your eyes evoke emotion re-calling stories of where you have been, what you have seen, but more importantly the beauty you have inside of you
The paths you have taken and roads you have crossed, have led you to this exact moment, exactly where you need to be
Know you’ll never lose the love in your eyes, because your soul will never lose its love
For a journey toward love and light
Let your pure heart lead your life.
The beauty of the sun rising above the hills, across the fields
As we work as a team united by humanity acknowledging our arrival from all parts of the world but letting that bind us, not separate us
We nourish the land and take care of the plants which will soon take care of us
Our medicine lays in stories and moments, shared and experienced, an environment to allow healing to begin and flow
Time slows down and the sun guides the rhythmic pace of weeding, mulching as we squat to maintain our concentration
Our thirst is quenched by tea and water, as our souls are quenched by the healing soil
This land is sacred, with energy of healing and renewal
A moment to unify humanity
A time to be one with all that this earth provides.
