KIEV - My big Love in Eastern Europe - Part 2 [EN/DE]

Hello, guys! As promised in Part 1, I won't keep you waiting for too long, with the second part of my recommendation for a European city trip this spring. Here are my remaining photos from the Ukrainian capital, together with some further information:

Hallo Leute! Wie in Teil 1 versprochen, lasse ich euch nicht lange warten, auf den zweiten Teil meiner Empfehlung für einen europäischen Städtetrip im kommenden Frühling. Hier sind meine restlichen Fotos aus der ukrainischen Hauptstadt, zusammen mit ein paar weiteren Infos:

Let's start with a walk along the Khreshchatyk, Kiev's gorgeous boulevard, which runs through the middle of Majdan Square.

Los geht’s mit einem Spaziergang entlang des Chreschtschatyk, Kiews Prachtboulevard, der mitten durch den Majdan Platz verläuft.

On weekends, the boulevard is closed to traffic and becomes a pedestrian zone where many inhabitants of Kiev enjoy the weekend.

An Wochenenden ist der Boulevard für den Straßenverkehr gesperrt und wird zur Fußgängerzone, in der viele Einwohner Kiews das Wochenende genießen.

In the city center you can find a few buildings in the unique gingerbread style.

Im Stadtzentrum findet man auch das ein oder andere Gebäude im einzigartigen Zuckerbäckerstil .

„Zoloti Vorota“ - the Golden Gate is another landmark of the city located on a square with trees, benches, street musicians, flower sellers and many cosy cafés and restaurants to relax.

„Zoloti Vorota“ - das goldene Tor ist ein weiteres Wahrzeichen der Stadt und befindet sich auf einem Platz der mit seinen Bäumen, Bänken, Straßenmusikern, Blumenverkäufern und zahlreichen gemütlichen Cafés und Restaurants zum Entspannen einlädt.

I didn't change the color of this building! The National Taras Shevchenko University of Kiev is indeed bright red and therefore another unique building.

Die Farbe dieses Gebäudes, habe ich nicht verändert! Die Nationale Taras-Schewtschenko-Universität von Kiew ist wirklich leuchtend rot und somit ein weiteres, einzigartiges Gebäude.

Kiev is very hilly. Numerous alleys and paths lead to viewpoints, which offer you again and again new and interesting perspectives of the various districts.

Kiew ist sehr hügelig. Zahlreiche Gassen und Pfade führen zu Aussichtspunkten, die euch immer wieder neue, interessante Perspektiven auf die einzelnen Stadtteile bieten.

Numerous galleries and art markets, as well as the many painted house facades remind you constantly that Kiev is a city of artists.

Zahlreiche Galerien und Kunstmärkte, aber auch die vielen bemalten Hausfassaden erinnern immer wieder daran, dass Kiew eine Stadt der Künstler ist.

In the bustling city, kiosks and street stalls with delicious food and drinks tempt visitors. And why should you resist? The prices are reasonable and you are on holiday! Also the number of beautiful Orthodox churches with their golden domes, like here at the main station, is almost endless.

In der belebten Stadt verlocken immer wieder Kiosks und Straßenstände mit leckeren Speisen und Getränken. Und warum auch widerstehen? Die Preise sind günstig und man ist ja auf Urlaub! Auch die Anzahl der wunderschönen orthodoxen Kirchen mit ihren goldenen Kuppeln, wie hier am Hauptbahnhof, ist schier endlos.

This pedestrian bridge leads to the Trukhaniv Island, that is all about fun and recreation. It is only one of many islands in the Dnieper, where you feel as if you are far away from the urban jungle.

Diese Fußgängerbrücke fürt auf die Truchaniw-Insel, auf der es vor Allem um Vergnügen und Erholung geht. Es ist nur eine von zahlreichen Inseln im Dnepr, auf denen man sich fühlt als wäre man weit weg vom Großstadtdschungel.

One could probably admire the sunset in Kiev for one month, every day from another spectacular viewpoint and would be fascinated every time again.

Man könnte in Kiew wohl einen Monat lang, jeden Tag von einem anderen spektakulären Aussichtspunkt den Sonnenuntergang bewundern und wäre wohl jedes Mal aufs Neue fasziniert.

Don't worry, if you don't speak Russian or Ukrainian, you can get through with English without any problems and as you can see, the English signs show that Kiev is a cosmopolitan city.

Keine Sorge, wenn ihr weder Russisch, noch Ukrainisch sprecht, man kommt mit Englisch problemlos durch und wie ihr seht, merkt man auch an den englischen Beschilderungen, dass Kiew eine Weltstadt ist.

Can you believe that this photo was taken in Kiev? In fact the islands of the river offer many clean, well-kept and fine sandy beaches. As you can see, there are even beach houses with lifeguards. You can enjoy a real holiday feeling there on hot days!

Könnt ihr glauben, dass dieses Foto in Kiew gemacht wurde? Tatsächlich bieten die Flussinseln viele saubere, gepflegte, feinsandige Strände. Wie ihr seht gibt es sogar Strandhäuschen mit Bademeistern. Hier kommt an heißen Tagen wirklich Urlaubsfeeling auf!

Admittedly, the water of the calm river does not look very inviting. The water quality is certainly not superior, but this does not really bother many citizens of Kiev. In any case, bathing is safe!

Zugegeben, das Wasser des ruhigen Flusses sieht nicht sehr einladend aus. Die Wasserqualität ist sicher nicht überragend, was viele Kiewer aber wenig stört. Das Baden ist auf jeden Fall gefahrlos möglich!

One could write an own article about the diverse culinary possibilities of the city. "Spotykach" is one of the best restaurants in Kiev and offers a lot of experimental cuisine. I chose astronaut food! 👨‍🚀

Über die vielfältigen kulinarischen Möglichkeiten der Stadt könnte man einen eigenen Artikel schreiben. "Spotykach" ist eines der besten Restaurants Kiews und bietet viel experimentelle Küche an. Ich entschied mich für die Astronautennahrung! 👨‍🚀

Ein weiteres imposantes Bauwerk: Kiews Opernhaus.

Many subway stations are underground palaces that will surely amaze you. By the way, "Arsenalna" is the deepest subway station in the world.

Viele U-Bahn Stationen sind unterirdische Paläste, die euch sicher zum Staunen bringen. „Arsenalna“ ist übrigens die tiefste U-Bahn Station der Welt.

There are also above-ground stations, such as "Dnipro", that are also very pompously decorated.

Es gibt auch überirdische Stationen, wie „Dnipro“, die auch teilweise sehr pompös gestaltet sind.

Okay, guys, that's it for Kiev! If you were already fascinated by the city in the first part, you might be convinced now and start looking for flights! Believe me, it is worthwhile and I would like to underline one thing again: You will hardly find any other, so great and versatile city in the world that you can experience so inexpensively!

So Leute, das wars erstmal über Kiew! Wer im ersten Teil schon fasziniert von der Stadt war, der wird nun vielleicht endgültig überzeugt sein und sich gleich mal nach Flügen umsehen! Glaubt mir es lohnt sich und ich möchte eines nochmals betonen: Ihr werdet kaum eine andere, so großartige und vielseitige Stadt auf der Welt finden, die ihr so günstig erleben könnt!
