I love warm-weather thunderstorms. We get a number of them in the South West of the US from the Golf of Mexico. Here in Israel, we are now approaching Winter. We will get a few thunder storms but they will be accompanied by cold winds and perhaps even snow. It doesn't rain in the Levant at all during Summers.
