Korean cosplay at Seoul Comic World

In Seoul and Busan, South Korea, there's a bi-monthly event that happens called Comic World! Think of San Diego or New York Comic Con in the states but on a much smaller scale.

It's amazing to see how much cosplay has expanded around the world! Witnessing Koreans display their love of Japanese and American pop culture in one place was a sight to see!

In the states, I used to attend anime conventions and they were fun at first but then over time, they got super commercialized. Not only that, I got older and the wonders of seeing people dressed up as your favorite characters became super dull to me.

Going back to the scene in another country re-ignited the love I had for my childhood and current favorite animated shows!

Attending Comic World felt like how game and anime conventions were when I first went to them (in 2002). Comic World had people from all around Korea (and even the world) come and showcase their love for their favorite series and showcase their artwork.

This comic was probably the most interesting piece of work I found at one of the events.

"Alice In Battlefield" is the title.

Usually in the United States, cosplay seems to be very hit or miss. What's worse is there's a serious sense of elitism within the community. In Korea, there was NONE of that. All of cosplay I found was on point and none of the cosplayers acted like they were a big deal just because they were in a costume that looked good on them.

The REALLY good thing about Comic World is the entrance fee is only $5!! Other events in the states charge $40 for a day pass!

If anyone is in Seoul or Busan during this wonderful event, one owes it to themselves to do all they can to attend and have a great time! Here are more photos to show you all how wonderful this event is!
