Trip Journal. Choroní.
The most important economic activities in Choroní are tourism, fishing and agriculture, especially cocoa, and I’m very proud to tell that this export product is listed as the best in the world.
Its people keep almost intact the traditions brought by African slaves in colonial times. The drums dance, the parrandas and the celebration in honor of Saint John Baptist are some of their main cultural manifestations. It is interesting to see how tourists, both domestic and foreign, enjoy participating in these folk activities.
Near Choroní are Puerto Colombia and its popular Playa Grande (Large beach). This consists of an extensive coastal promenade surrounded by large coconut trees, bathed by the crystalline waters of the Caribbean Sea, where tourists can peacefully enjoy the sun and the sand. Along the beach you can find typical foods and handicrafts sales. Also, in the port you can take boats to places like Chuao and Cepe. Personally I say it is worth taking a tour of these magnificent places.
The nightlife of Choroní is very dynamic, especially on weekends and holidays, since the natives organize celebrations and drums dances, where a very pleasant atmosphere is experienced.

That first image of the beach is amazing, what a back drop! I could spend all day looking at that one alone but reading a little more about the locals keeping the tradition with the music that they play and it sounds like they know how to throw a party there! Thanks for sharing a little more about this part of the world :)
