4 Hidden Travel Pitfalls the World Needs to Know

in #travel7 years ago

Even if you have traveled a lot in the past, you are still susceptible to mistakes while traveling, even if you are not aware that you are doing them. Some travelers have already fallen into a trap, a difficulty not easily recognized - a trap. Unfortunately, once you've fallen into a travel trap, it's often a challenge to get out of it. Just before boarding that plane, avoid these four common travel hazards to make the most of your trip, along with some clever planning ideas.

Travel Pitfall 1: Going Beyond Your Budget

Budget is very important while traveling. It is always a good idea to plan how much you are spending versus the number of days you will stay in a country. You should be able to allocate a budget per day and stick with it. Of course there will always be that unprecedented expense. Smart travelers usually get travel insurance for the duration of their trip to cover unexpected costs incurred during the trip, such as loss of luggage, medical expenses, etc.

Before you leave, it is also crucial to make sure you know how much money you have and what you can afford to spend. As far as possible, you should always pay cash while you are traveling, as there may be places that only accept cash. You should be able to keep the cash in the reserve in an international account accessible as an savings account in case of emergencies. There are also several travel applications available that will help you keep track of your expenses.

Travel Pitfall 2: Getting Sick While Traveling

The most common travel sickness is diarrhea. Eating contaminated food and water contributes to diarrhea. You should always remember that when you are in a strange place, stick to bottled or purified water and freshly prepared food. If you are not sure how the food is prepared, do not ingest it. However, travelers can also become ill with respiratory tract infections and the flu. Standing at airports or sitting on airplanes can become infected with these common diseases. When you get sick while traveling, it can be expensive. In some countries, specialized medical care in most facilities costs a fortune. One thing you can do is choose travel insurance that covers medical expenses while traveling.

Travel Pitfall 3: Not adhering to safety precautions

There are always security risks during the trip. In fact, even our own government gives a travel warning whenever we go to certain countries. Although we can not avoid accidents and setbacks in the round, safety is a priority, especially when traveling with our family.

When you are traveling you need to be more aware of your surroundings, especially if you are a tourist in a remote region. There are a few ways to stay safe while traveling, such as keeping your passport, travel documents, cash and credit cards in a safe place, and spread them on several bags in case one is stolen. You should also not draw too much attention to yourself and avoid wearing tourist clothing. While this is not possible in many Asian countries, just try to mix as much as possible. During the trip, women should always be with a group and not walk on the dark streets alone. While it is perfectly acceptable to enjoy and have a drink or two in a bar, keep track of your alcohol consumption. You should not be too drunk you can not find your way to your hotel.

Travel Pitfall 4: Not Anticipating your Mobile Situation

One of the most unexpected expenses that awaits us when we return from our trip is the very expensive mobile phone bill. This is due to roaming charges while we are using our phone abroad. To avoid this, you should investigate ahead of time and see if you can buy a low-cost local prepaid SIM card to get very affordable data and minutes. You can always make VOIP calls or send text messages through Facebook Messenger or Skype. There are also other ways to communicate over the Internet like Viber, WhatsApp, Line and many others.

These are just four of the most common hidden travel hideaways that you can find during your mini-break, or while you are on a business trip or family vacation. Avoiding these and being prepared will lead to a journey experience without a headache.

I found myself in your words haha ! Thanks for that and Happy travels =D

I can relate to # 4! This was a couple of years ago when my family and I traveled overseas and I forgot to put my mobile phone on airplane mode before switching it off. So when we landed and switched my phone back on hoping set up my SIM card on roaming, I didn't realise after about a minute that it immediately connected to the local carrier and 4G had kicked in too! That ~1 minute of uptime equated to about $90 for me!
