On of the most memorable aspects of our Hanoi visit was clearly the food. Starting the days with Pho Bo, beef noodle soup - a classic and a national dish of Vietnam, will vitalize you for the day - giving you energy for the whole day. As European one first has to get used to eating soup in the morning instead of our typical carbohydrate-rich breakfast, but it is a great way to start the day. If you have not tried the Pho Bo, the Vietnamese noodle soup, this is a clear recommendation to do so!

Eine der erinnerungswürdigsten Aspekte der Tage in Hanoi was ganz klar das Essen, besonders den Tag mit Pho Bo zu starten, einer schmackhaften Rinder-Nudelsuppe und ein klassisches Gericht des Landes. Ein Nationalgericht, das einen für den Tag stärkt. Als Europäer muss man sich zweifelsohne erst einmal daran gewöhnen, Suppe statt unserer kohlenhydratreichen Nahrung zu essen, aber auf diese Art startet man auf eine tolle und leichte Art in den Tag. Wenn Ihr Pho Bo noch nicht gegessen habt, dies ist eine ganz klare Empfehlung: Probiert es aus!

Walk-through Hanoi / Zu Besuch in Hanoi

Hanoi as Capital of the country is not the population richest of Vietnam. The population of the city is arround 6.4 mio. according to the last estimate. Still that is the double amount of my home city Berlin. As in all bigger Asian cities, as tourist one first has to get used to the masses of people on the streets, especially to the endless amount of motor bikes.	Hanoi ist zwar die Hauptstadt Vietnams, doch nicht die bevölkerungsreichste Stadt des Landes. Die Population lag bei der letzten Zählung bei 6,4 Mio., d. h., es leben dennoch zweimal so viele Menschen dort wie in meiner Heimatstadt Berlin. Wie in allen größeren asiatischen Städten gilt es als Tourist erst einmal an die Massen zu gewöhnen, besonders auf die endlosen Motorrollern auf den Straßen.

We spent hours walking aroung, enjoying the near by lake, the Truc Bach Lake, were we witnessed a fishermen, who should have started a football players careers instead, the way he treated his freshly caught fish was not nice to look at, but see for yourself.	Wir sind Stunden in Hanoi herumspaziert, wie zum nahen See, den Truc Bach, wo wir einen Fischer sahen, der wohl besser eine Fussballkarriere hätte starten sollen. Die Art und Weise wie seinen frischen Fang behandelte, war wirklich nicht schön anzusehen, aber seht doch selbst.

We did not spend too many days in Hanoi, as we were too interested to see more of what the country had to offer, but we certainly enjoyed our short stay.	Lange haben wir uns nicht in Hanoi aufgehalten, uns packte schon früh die Reiselust. Wir waren heiß auf weitere Eindrücke, die das Land zu bieten hatte. Doch unseren Aufenthalt haben wir sehr genoßen.
