USA West Coast Roadtrip - by @oozora - Day #5

Dear Steemians,

Welcome to Day 5 of my USA trip.
We have two beautiful days in Yosemite National Park behind us.
If you have more time and nature likes, then spend a few more days here.
There is so much to see in Yosemite National Park.
Let's get to day 5.
Today we will explore part of Death Valley.
It's best to pack sunscreen and a hat, which is pretty hot here.

Now we want to start with the pictures from Day 5

First of all it says like every day, we have to drive first.
But driving is really fun in America I have to say.
The streets are exactly as you know them from the movies.
The roads are straightforward for many kilometers: D

On the way you just stop somewhere to take a photo break or just enjoy the sun.

The Chevrolet also had good to do in the heat.

From time to time you can stop at the signposted View Points to look at the view or just to go to the bathroom.
Just about every View Point has a toilet block.

Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes
Address parking: On the roadside the CA-190, Stovepipe Wells, CA 92328

This was our first planned photo stop.
In the northern part of Death Valley are the Mesquite Flats Sand Dunes. These are huge sand dunes of the finest quartz sand, which stand out just above the otherwise flat valley floor. They cover a total area of around 36 square kilometers. The rest of the valley looks bleak, too, only here meet the visual clichés, which one connects with a desert region.

After the Flat Sand Dunes it was said to continue first.
On the good and long streets of Death Valley.

Next lookout point was the Ghost Town. This was but rather spontaneous.
On the basis of the entry "Ghost Town" on the map we drove here. We had never visited Ghost Town and were disappointed. If you are near anyway, then you can look at it calmly.
But I would not do any extra detour.

On beating and spinning you should pay attention here in the desert.
These hide like in the houses because it is just cooler there.
The snake was aufjedenfal highlight on this day: D

There are about 4-5 buildings around here.
We did not go into the buildings themselves.
Who knows what to expect: D

This building looks well preserved.
But unfortunately this was completely fenced.
I would like to go in here.

Continue towards Badwater Basin

Badwater Basin
The deepest point in America (86 meters below sea level) is a huge salt pan.
address: Badwater Rd, Death Valley, CA 92328

The sign marks the sea level.
The air was already very oppressive and the heat did not make it any easier.

Zabriskie Point
Located a few miles past Furnace Creek (Visitor Center), parking at the CA-190.
Looks very nice at sunset.
Be sure to look who you drive past here.

Dante’s View
A bit out of the way but worth it (if you have time).
You have to take a detour

The last stop on this day.

This famous vantage point offers views of the Death Valley across its entire length north and south, and to the opposite Panamint Mountains, with their highest peak, Telescope Peak at 3,368 meters. At the foot of Dante's View lies the salt pan of Badwater. This is particularly worth seeing at sunrise when the mountain range is bathed in reddish light. With a clear view, you can even see the 4,418 meter high Mount Whitney in the distance, which allows you to see the highest and the lowest point of the US at once.

Thus, Day 5 in Death Valley is also done.
The contrast is very noticeable here.
While we partially frozen in the Yosemite the day before, today we have
Sweaty Death Valley.

Hallo liebe Steemians,

herzlich Willkommen zu Tag 5 meiner USA reise.
Wir haben 2 sehr schöne Tage im Yosemite National Park hinter uns.
Wen ihr mehr Zeit habt und die Natur mögt , dann verbringt lieber hier noch ein paar Tage.
Es gibt sovieles noch zu sehen im Yosemite National Park.
Kommen wir nun zu Tag 5.
Am heutigen Tag werden wir einen Teil von Death Valley erkunden.
Packt euch am besten Sonnencreme und einen Hut ein, den es ist hier ziemlich heiß.

Nun wollen wir mit den Bildern aus Tag 5 starten

Zu Aller erst heißt es wie jeden Tag, wir müssen erstmal Auto fahren.
Aber Autofahren macht in Amerika echt Spaß muss ich sagen.
Die Straßen sind genau so wie man diese aus dem Filme kennt.
Die Straßen verlaufen viele Kilometer einfach gerade aus :D

Unterwegs wird einfach irgendwo angehalten um eine Fotopause einzulegen oder einfach um die Sonne zu genießen.

Der Chevrolet hatte auch gut zu tuen in der Hitze.

Ab und Zu kann man an den ausgeschilderten View Points anhalten um sich die Aussicht anzuschauen oder einfach nur um auf Toilette zu gehen.
So gut wie jeder View Point hat ein Toilettenhäuschen.

Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes
Adresse Parkplatz: Am Straßenrand der CA-190, Stovepipe Wells, CA 92328

Dies war unser erster geplanter Fotostopp.
Im nördlichen Teil des Death Valley befinden sich die Mesquite Flats Sand Dunes. Dies sind riesige Sanddünen aus feinstem Quarzsand, die sich knapp vom ansonsten flachen Talboden abheben. Sie erstrecken sich auf einer Fläche von insgesamt rund 36 Quadratkilometern. Sieht der Rest des Tals auch trostlos aus, erst hier erfüllen sich optisch die Klischeevorstellungen, die man mit einer Wüstenregion verbindet.

Nach den Flat Sand Dunes hieß es erstmal weiterfahren.
Auf den guten und langen Straßen des Death Valley.

Nächster Aussichtspunkt war die Ghost Town. Dieser war aber eher Spontan.
Auf Grund des Eintrages "Ghost Town" auf der Landkarte sind wir hierhin gefahren. Wir hatten noch nie eine Ghost Town besucht und waren enttäuscht. Wen ihr sowieso in der nähe seit , dann könnt ihr euch das ruhig angucken.
Aber einen extra Umweg dafür würde ich nicht mehr machen.

Auf Schlagen und Spinnen solltet ihr hier in der Wüste aufjedenfal aufpassen.
Den diese verstecken sich gerne in den Häusern weil es dort einfach kühler ist.
Die schlange war aufjedenfal Highlight an diesen Tag :D

Es stehen hier ca 4-5 Gebäude herum.
In die Gebäude selbst sind wir nicht nicht reingegangen.
Wer weiß was einem da erwartet :D

Dieses Gebäude sieht gut erhalten aus.
Aber leider war dieses Komplett eingezäunt.
Hier wäre ich gerne reingegangen.

Alte Büchsendosen

Weiter geht´s richtung Badwater Basin

Badwater Basin
Der tiefste Punkt Amerikas (86 m unter dem Meeresspiegel) ist eine riesige Salzpfanne.
Adresse: Badwater Rd, Death Valley, CA 92328

Das Schild markiert den Meerespiegel.
Die Luft war hier schon sehr drückend und die Hitze machte es uns auch nicht einfacher.

Zabriskie Point
Liegt ein paar Meilen hinter Furnance Creek (Visitor Center), Parkplatz an der CA-190.
Sieht bei Sonnenuntergang sehr schön hier aus.
Unbedingt ansehen wen man hier vorbeifährt.

Dante’s View
Etwas abgelegen und nicht im Vorbeifahren zu besichtigen, man muss einen Umweg fahren,
der sich aber lohnt (falls man Zeit hat).

Adresse: Dantes View Rd, California
Der letzte Stopp an diesem Tag.

Dieser berühmte Aussichtspunkt bietet einen Blick in das Death Valley über seine gesamte Länge nach Norden und Süden und auf die gegenüber liegenden Panamint Mountains mit ihrer höchsten Erhebung, dem Telescope Peak mit 3.368 Metern Höhe. Zu Füßen von Dantes View liegt die Salzpfanne von Badwater. Dies ist besonders bei Sonnenaufgang sehenswert wenn die Gebirgskette in rötliches Licht getaucht ist. Bei ganz klarer Sicht kann man sogar den 4.418 Meter hohen Mount Whitney in der Ferne erkennen, wodurch man den höchsten und den niedrigsten Punkt der USA auf einmal sehen kann.

Somit ist Tag 5 im Death Valley auch geschafft.
Der Kontrast ist hier ganz deutlich zu merken.
Während wir am Tag davor im Yosemite teilweise gefroren haben , haben wir heute im
Death Valley geschwitzt.
