The Educative Value of Travelling.

in #travel6 years ago

“A gentleman should travel abroad, but live at home.” –says a Renowned Scholat,. What he has said is meaningful, but it is, perhaps also equally true that those who want to live well and meaningfully at home, should travel abroad. In fact travelling has as equal an educative value as textbooks have. Seeing is learning -the real, pragmatic learning. If we go out visiting people and place at times and see for ourselves what we out visiting people and place at time and see for ourselves what we would otherwise read in books, our learning will become more effective. What is normally written in textbooks? Nothing but the abstraction of the reality ----of what has happened, is happening, and may happen in future. If this is true, then it is also true that travelling should be a part of our academic education. The universities, Colleges and schools of most developed countries have already made it compulsory to travel or go on education tours and that traveling has an immense educative value.

The art of being a gentleman is slowly dying. Modern ways of thinking are aimed at becoming more progressive, advanced in terms of technology, but the true values are somehow forgotten. There is nothing wrong with living by today's concepts and keeping up with the times. But it will not be superfluous to know and remember some fundamental principles of behavioral character for anyone.
