Ancient city: 54 meters above the Volga

in #travel7 years ago

Plyos is historically located on several hills on the right bank of the Volga.
Their height is usually estimated from the river level.
Today we will visit the place of the Plesk fortress, which is known almost 600 years.

Plyos is one of the settlements of the Privolzhsky District.
When you go there, by the very Volga River do not slip.
The city is also small, too, as if from the 19th century, but there's really nothing to watch there ..

The entrance is notably marked.
Immediately I see, I have often taken many people.

Housing can also be rented on the beach, but cheaper and more authentic - away from the embankment - to the south.
Here, many rent their houses and somehow simpler, and people are more cushioned))
Well, the distances in the city are small. It's not far from the Volga.

Together with the house with all accessories and the main thing vyfayem (though here with such a password dfU7ml873tyuiNBB, for example)

you will additionally receive all elements of village life.

Cozy, quiet and good at all.
Special amenities, however, in these homes do not wait.

For amenities and bright colors I recommend going here -

the complex is designed for winter recreation, judging by the lift and the mountain behind it, but it's good in summer.
Pay attention to the usual August temperature in Plyos.
Not Photoshop.

And what a view!

Grow large, buy a boat.
I will also come here.

By the way, I highly recommend breakfast here.
The prices are quite acceptable, but the interior ...

In general, as in a fairy tale.
And very nice service.

In Plyos it is easy to hire a boat and ride along the shore, admiring it with a lot of water.
So, well, now to the city.
Tourist center - Bazaar square (the former area of the Revolution, hehe)

We wandered in the evening, so most of the Meat rows were already closed.
For some reason, the entire area is huge - whether from illiterate tourists on cars, or else they report paving stones ...

Nearby - the building of the former fire department and police station with cameras on the second floor.
Now people just live here))

The Resurrection Church. As new, although the 19th century.
As far as I understood, now there is an art gallery inside.
By the way, the city is firmly connected with creativity - here not only Isaak Levitan was born, but also there passes mass of art and music festivals.
The corners of Plyos were shot a dozen times in various domestic films.

Souvenirs are always the same ..

We went along the Volga to the west.

The streets are narrow. The houses are neat, with alarms almost everything.

Friends caught a glimpse of the courtyard of the house.
No, there is not a car repair shop or a club - the whole veranda is lined with antique irons.

We rush slowly .. to the Cathedral Hill.
It was on this mountain, and before it was called Bashenoi, that in 1410 the Plyos fortress was laid with the surrounding earthen rampart.
In general, not for long, but high.
To the cores - to take water and RedBull.

On the mountain several attractions - the museum and exhibition complex "Presence places."
Previously, it housed the city government, primary school and archive. And in general there were 2 buildings.
There is only one preserved and finished for many millions of rubles.

Side by side - a monument to the founder of the city - the son of Dmitry Donskoy - Vasily.
It was built with great pomp in 1910 in honor of the 500th anniversary of the city.
But in our days, tourists ask not whether the artist Levitan is depicted ..

A little further away - the restored Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin.
As I was told, the 17th century is not a remake. The church, built here on the site of the fortress, was repeatedly burned and destroyed.
And now repair.

To ascend the mountain stands for the beautiful views of the city and the Volga.

A quiet provincial evening of the 18th century ...

Kostroma - and the left bank, this is their area, covers with an evening mist.

And Plyos is still awake.
Although people on the streets well, quite a bit ...

From the former fortress, which protected the city from the Tatars, there were earthen ramparts and a small part of fortified walls.
And recently here such a booth was set.
Nothing too))

It's getting dark.
It's time to return to the numbers.
Good night, Plyos!

There will be an opportunity - stop by this pretty town.
Day you are quite enough to plunge into history and admire the local beauties.
Do not switch!))
