🍁🍂 Making Squirrel Friends: Autumn in beautiful Hyde Park 🐿🐿
There are lots of pretty parks in London, but Hyde Park is probably my favourite. Not only is it very central being only a short walk away from Oxford street, it is always worth a visit at any time of year.
One of the main reasons I like the park so much is the ridiculous amount of squirrels you'll find there. Not just any squirrels though- super greedy, cheeky squirrels who will lunge at you if you are holding any food!
While I don't mind being attacked by cute rodents (and actually encourage it), I'm sure lots of people don't- so if you do visit and find yourself in close proximity to these confident critters, it may be best to put your chips or sandwich away until they are out of sight!
If you do want to feed them, take along some unsalted nuts and I'm sure you won't find it hard to encourage them - they aren't shy and will come and sit on your lap or run up your leg to get to the food.
Even if you aren't a squirrel nut, I would definitely recommend visiting the park for a stroll or renting a Santander bike to cycle around as it's so beautiful and peaceful- a calm refuge from the hustle and bustle of the nearby city centre.
There is also a big lake in the park, The Serpentine, where you can hire row boats or paddle boats which makes for a fun daytime date with someone special 💜
There are lots of feathered friends to meet at the lake, but feeding time can turn into a bit of a frenzy!
Also worth visiting is The Serpentine Gallery, which has no entry fee and contains impressive art, architectural and design exhibitions.
The park is especially pretty at the moment as the leaves are turning orange and brown as we settle into winter.
However, there is always something to do- during the winter the park is transformed into Winter Wonderland, a huge annual Christmas market with rides, an ice rink, entertainment and lots of festive food and drink.
