I´m always super excited to get back to Dubai, as it is one of my favorite travel destinations. The last time I went to Dubai was only one and a half months ago. We went to Dubai with my team for a week attending several Blockchain events representing @appics. So as it was more like a business trip, we barely had time to do some sightseeing or even take a few photos at beautiful spots, although Dubai has so many. So I decided to book another flight to Dubai with my family to catch up as much as possible. The Burj Al Arab was one of the spots I always wanted to see, which I will talk about in today’s post.

Burj Al Arab

The Burj Al Arab - also called „Tower of the Arabs“ is a luxury hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (above the Persian Gulf) The Burj Al Arab is the third tallest hotel in the world and stands on an artificial island 280 from Jumeirah Beach. The shape of the structure is designed to resemble the sail of a ship. It has a helped near the roof at a height of 210 m above the ground. The construction started in 1994 and opened in December 1999. Can you imagine how high the cost was? More than US$ 1 billion! As its value can be understood through its quality architecture, it is one of the most luxurious hotels in the world.

Rooms and suites

The hotel is managed by the Jumeirah Group. Despite its size, Burj Al Arab holds only 28 double-story floors which accommodate 202 bedroom suites. The smallest suite occupies an area of 169 m2 (1,820 sq ft), the largest covers 780 m2 (8,400 sq ft).
Suites feature design details that juxtapose east and west. White columns show great influence. Bathrooms are accented by mosaic tile patterns.
The Royal Suite, billed at US$24,000 per night, is listed at number 12 on World's 15 most expensive hotel suites compiled by CNN Go in 2012.

Restaurants

Al Muntaha ("The Ultimate"), is located 200 m (660 ft) above the Persian Gulf, offering a view of Dubai. It is supported by a full cantilever that extends 27 m (89 ft) from either side of the mast, and is accessed by a panoramic elevator.
Al Mahara ("Oyster"), which is accessed via a simulated submarine voyage, features a large seawater aquarium, holding roughly 990,000 L (260,000 US gal) of water. The wall of the tank, made of acrylic glass in order to withstand the water pressure, is about 18 cm (7.1 in) thick.

The Burj Al Arab is a five-star hotel, the highest official ranking. In fact, its known as „the world’s only seven-star hotel. I would love to see the Burj Al Arab from the inside, but you can’t visit the hotel unless you’re staying there or have a reservation at one of their restaurants. Afternoon teas starts at US $75 - which is pretty insane! Now you can certainly imagine how much a dish costs. Taking in account, the food that you get along the amazing view - I’m pretty sure it´s an unforgettable experience. But here’s a question to you: Would you consider it worth it?

Much love, Lisa
