RE: The Viking Ship Museum (Vikingeskibsmuseet) in Roskilde, Denmark

in #travel5 years ago

Nice!
Once I was a member of the museum and the Sea Stallion guild for one year because I wanted to join the summer cruise and sail on a Viking ship, but then I had some health issues and could not join them, so I cancelled my membership the following year.
Also communication was not so easy because a lot was in Danish not English.
I never even made it to the museum, though I would have had free entry as a member. C est la vie!
But at least I supported a worthy cause with my membership fee.

Oh my gosh, don't get me started on the Danish language. What a confusing, marble-mouthed endeavor! Though I am trying to learn it. But if you get over there to see it, you'll love it. One thing I noticed about how Europeans (or at least the Danes) exhibit ancient artifacts is that we spectators can get much closer up to view and sometimes even touch than we can in most US exhibits.
