Another beautiful day in Sumatra, right in Medan City i visited Maimun Palace, this is home to Melayu Deli Sultanate. Its located right in the city center and very easy to find. I've been here many times as I studied in this city for years, but never thought to capture some photos. This time, i would tell you some corner about this nice place.

What i really like in this place is the architecture! Looks amazing to me with the ornaments and the colors. Some of the chairs and tables on the balcony are available to sit and enjoy the scenery around, wondering about this historical place. But hey, in certain days they have perform Melayu music with famous Malay songs they play with gambus instrument and accordion, they also wear Malay suits too; D feels like back to old memory nostalgic at heart; D

Short history.
At first, the founder of this kingdom was an admiral from the Aceh Sultanate named Muhammad Dalik, who later on when his son who led the kingdom separated it from the Aceh Sultanate. And since the announcement of Indonesian independence, this sultanate they have no longer power in politic, but the Malay Deli Sultanate still exists today. Their family still living in this place. Right now, the highest authority is Sultan Deli XIV named Sultan Mahmud Lamanjiji Perkasa Alamsyah. This very young Sultan served since 2005.

Back to now.
To be able to enter here, visitors must pay an entrance fee of 5000 Indonesian Rupiah. And in the palace I saw to the right of the entrance, the Sultan's throne which was dominated by yellow ornamen, characteristic of Malay.

In the middle there is a large and surrounding ancient chandelier and some chairs along with rows of photographs from royal members and Sultans who once ruled.

In a frame I saw a colorful painting of flags and umbrellas under the title Kingdom of Deli. There is also seen this Royal logo.

What is different from many places in Medan city is that I can rent a traditional Malay clothes here to pose like Malay girls for example: D They offer prices varying from 40,000-100,000 Indonesian rupiah for the suits. You may wear it only around this palace. This place is one of the places that is visited by many local and foreign tourists. Near the parking lot you may find fresh coconut water seller, oh they seems really understand me i am a big fans of coconut water ;D
