Attractions of Dalat: #19 Dinh ll

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Dinh ll is the second of the three palaces built in Dalat and is located on a pine tree covered hillside 1540 metres above sea level. It is just 2 kilometres from the centre of town. It was constructed in 1933 as the summer palece for the then Governor of Indochina, Jean Decoux.

There are 25 opulent rooms in the palace, ensuring luxury living and working space. There are also secret tunnels to ensure the safety of the occupants. It became the home of Ngo DinhNhu and his family. Also in 1964 then General Nguyen Khan came to power, this was his chosen residence.

It has two floors above ground and a basement of equal size. From the glorious vineyard here there are excellent views of Xuan Huong Lake. Beyond the lake, Lang Biang Mountain rises.

Interesting informations. Dalat always give me a feeling of a foreign place imo. Like “Dunhill”! Interesting, exotic even I’m living in the same country:) Thanks for the insightful post. Learned some history too :)
