Annapurna Trek, Nepal (Nov 2017)

Day # 1

It was my first trek in Nepal in the Annapurna region. Before I started out, I knew that Annapurna Conservation Area is very popular with trekkers from all over the world and so my expectations were obviously high. But, I still had my fingers crossed, as I was trekking solo for the first time and I had already done some mind-blowing treks in India in the last 3-4 years.

With all the excitement and some trekking gear and porter still to be hired, I landed in Kathmandu on 4th Nov afternoon. Next day morning, I took a bus and reached Pokhara by late afternoon. I quickly arranged by Annapurna trekking pass (TIMS card was arranged earlier in Kathmandu itself) and hired an experienced porter as well. I had my dinner early and retired for the day as I wanted to wake up fresh for the tiring first day trek, which always is the case with me.

Next day (i.e., 6th November) I woke up early, got ready and met my 50 year old cheerful Nepali porter at the hotel reception. Shortly, my taxi arrived and I started for 2 hours drive to Nayapul - the starting point of trek.

The target for the day was to bypass Tikhedunga village and climb all the way upto Ulleri village so as to have a headstart on the second day. After arriving in Ulleri village after 5 hours of trek, I realised that there were lot of trekkers there already. )))

The trek for the day was uneventful - very hot day for first 3 hours, flat trail initially that kept climbing steadily and after Tikhedunga, it was just climb, climb and more climb till one reached Ulleri.

I have captured some beautiful pictures on the first day, some of which are being shared here. Will keep sharing brief details about each day's trek along with the day's pictures (one day at a time).
