Mermaids in Las Vegas Nevada USA
Entering Las Vegas Nevada on the northbound Interstate 15, you will see Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and the Silverton Casino and Hotel, conveniently attached. This is one of my favorite stops on my way into Vegas. And one reason is the 117,000-gallon aquarium, with mermaids.
Ok, so not real mermaids, but they do put on a show several times a day. And it seems to be a big draw. There are literally thousands of fish in this aquarium which is very tall, with curved Plexiglas sides. The general public view is essentially from the base of the tank, so you get to look up and watch a variety of fish swimming.
According to the Aquarium Las Vegas Website website, the mermaids are part of the Save Our Beach awareness program. There is no charge for the mermaid show which runs several times a day. And, because the aquarium is conveniently located between Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and the Silverton Casino, you can't miss it.
Unfortunately, the photo above was taken at the end of a show. But I'm going back in a few months and will make an effort to capture the entire show. If you look real close at the picture below, you will see a reflection of the Silverton Casinos slot machines just a few feet away.
It is a great stop to relax and eat and of course, pick up any equipment you may need for you desert excursions.
