Kuzino. Esiplevo

Kuzino is a village of city type in the Veliky Ustyug district of the Vologda region.
The urban settlement is located on the right bank of the Northern Dvina river at its very beginning after the confluence of the Sukhona and South rivers. The distance to the district center is approximately five kilometers, but it can only be reached by ferry in summer and by ice crossing in winter. In the off-season during periods of ice drift and freezing, communication with Kuzino is not available.

At the beginning of the 20th century, there were three villages in the village: Esiplevo, Borodkino and Borovichi. In the former Esiplevo to this day there are huge five-wall houses. The village was located on the banks of oxbow lake – the former bed of the South river. The street has retained its historical name.

The geographical position of the village Esiplevo was very convenient for trade. The locality was located on the bank of the river and on the Veliky Ustyug – Luza – Lalsk road.

At that time, the merchants decided to use the old river bed Yug for winter parking and repair of their vessels, and with the help of a dredger they turned the oxbow lake into a full-fledged backwater.

Subsequently, in the area in 1918, the Kuzinsky Mechanical Plant was formed for the repair of ships and became a branch of the Veliky Ustyug Shipyard. From these times began the formation of the village Kuzino.

In the village of Esiplevo, now on Esiplevo Street, electricity first appeared in 1940.

This is one of the most ancient streets of the village of Kuzino. The rest of the multi-unit housing was massively built in the 30s, and two five-story brick houses were built in 1984. The backwater exists to this day, but is not used for shipping. The most extreme houses in the low part of Esiplevo street were badly hit by flooding in 2016.

The high part of the street is completely safe, because far from water.
