Shiny and Hard London

Everywhere you look in London, you see a lot of tall glass buildings and construction going on all around. Old buildings are taken down and new taller ones are put up to accommodate the ever growing city.

I really find the modern architecture to be boring and not that beautiful, in my opinion they lack character and stories. Sure there are some cool buildings but I really don't like most that much, I never feel like looking at them for that long. But when I see old buildings, even if they are in total ruin, I can marvel them for hours. I still wanted to capture a few shots of the modern architecture London has, because it's a part of the city I'm very fond of.
Shot with the Nikon D7200 and Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8.

I know you're not a fan of the tall glass monolith.. but I am. I really appreciate the pics you put up here. For a scene you don't like, you still captured it very well. I just wish there was a way to build the new modern things we need while still keeping the old historical things around. Something for us all to work on, I guess.

Well I am glad to hear you like them, even though I don't really! :D

It is one of the most developed cities in the world. Which is ahead of many developed cities.

So one would think, but they still can't make proper faucets.

The fourth picture shows The Shard, the tallest building in Western Europe. The tallest building in Europe is Lahkta Center in St. Petersburg:

Lakhta Center

It doesn't actually look that high in real life, not that impressive really.

The Shard? I see. When I visited London in July last year, I did not go near it. Anyway, that's Lakhta Center in the picture.

wow dear such a amazing picture all picture done so perfectly great photography art. welldone dear

Hi eve. Unfortunately old doesn't create the square meterage and return on rentals. I prefer the old buildings with character but then again I am not a landlord renting one out.

I know that.

Oh yeah this is just amazing. So much beauty everywhere :)

No, the contrary, ugly new buildings! But I'm glad there are a lot of old ones too in London!

I think they are beautiful and the city have a good balance between new and old.

London is a very beautiful city for travel. The article is very well..Photography is very good.

Wow... some really great photography... the cranes look like spiders

I see work on battersea power station is progressing nicely.. I wish they would have left it alone though.

I was staying next to Battersea park when I was in London. I saw pretty big adds that said POWER, which I assume had something to do with the power station. What's the deal with it?

It been abandoned for a long time, just sitting there as an empty shell, but its been a famous part of the skyline for a long time so people want it preserved. Now someone has bought it and the land around it and is going to turn it into a big development of apartments, shops, gyms, restaurants and offices. So it will be a construction site for a while. The cool thing though is that they are building in and around the power station while preserving the original building.

Oh, that is cool! I love it when old factory building and such are turned into apartments!

yeah me too, its one of those things they do a lot of here in the UK to preserve historic buildings.
