Worldly Wanders #9 - Warwick Estate, Cape Winelands, South Africa

The Cape Winelands was only an hour away from where we were staying in Kommetjie, so naturally we arranged to spend a whole day in the area.

My wife and I aren’t major drinkers but do we enjoy a good glass of red wine every now and then. We’ve both really enjoyed Warwick Wine and Warwick always seems to be our go-to wine when we feel like purchasing a bottle.

Warwick Estate is a family-owned and run winery. It feels a lot more personal than all the other "big names" out there. The property has a number of cute picnic spots right next to the dam which are great for relaxing, having some snacks from their pre-packed picnic baskets and sipping away at their amazing wine.

It was good to see that Warwick has an interest in saving our bees. We found this poster just outside the main building.

The little café and shop is very neatly decorated with wine bottles on display all around. We naturally stuck around for a cup of cappuccino 😉

The walls are also filled with some great awards they have achieved over the years and some amazing photographs. There was even a letter from Michelle Obama 😳😁

Seeing that there is a very limited selection of Warwick wines in our area, we really couldn’t resist signing up as Warwick Wine Club members! 😄 The staff were so friendly they even gave us a free wine tasting so we could decide which wines to place on our first order. Surprisingly, my wife even enjoyed a few of their white wines! Our first bottles will be delivered in November 🍾

As we were about to leave, this little guy flew in and landed right at out feet. He really wasn’t scared of us and even let us get close enough to feed him.

If you ever in the Stellenbosch area, make sure you pay these guys a visit. Great staff and amazing wines!! Even the kids can have a blast 😁

Loving all this photography my man.

It's good to see you are making great use of that 6D of yours :)

Keep up the great work!

That's a pretty cool comment!! Thanks man ☺️ You better be saving up for your own 6D soon 😁

Thanks my man :) Glad you liked it.

I think maybe 5D? :P Or even 80D/60D would be cool..

5D is even more expensive than the 6D. I'd rather take a 5/6D instead of the 80/60D - prefer the full frame sensor 😉

Yeah.. But I know if I get say a 5D Mark III, I probably wouldn't need to ever upgrade.. So worth it in a sense. Then again, at millionaire status, you can buy tons of 1D's :D So I also wouldn't mind even like a 750D basic kit for now.

Just make do, and invest the rest hahaha

Whahaha - believe me, you'll eventually need to upgrade your camera body... If you buy good quality lenses they can easily last you like 20 years 😁

Ahh good point. So short term body, long term lenses. Nice!

Exactly that man!!! 😜

Wow @cheeto.blue amazing photo's it looks really professionally done, u becoming a professional photographer now. Hope you guys had an amazing holiday and had a super fun time.

Haha - thanks man!! Just a hobby I enjoy though 😉

Nice write-up man! Stellenbosch has some fantastic wineries. I could easily live down their, but would probably end up an alcoholic...
I haven't tried Warwick yet, so will have to look out for it if they ship to Aus. My favourites from that region are Simonsig - Frans Malan and Kanonkop -
Pinotage.

I coud soooo live there too 😂 But ja, too much wine then 😳
Ah, Simonsig is also good! Drove past their farm too 😉

Great Photos, just for interests sake the name Warwick can also be found on some very good Bass Guitars!

Hehe - I actually have a friend that has one 😉

it definitely is an awesome and chill place. and Beautiful photographs , I love going through them. Do you upload the original size or resize it to post here?

Thanks for the kind words ☺️
I actually resize them a little - reduce to the longest side down to 2 000 pixels...

Beautiful pics ...enjoy CT

Thanks a mil 😉

That place looks like a very nice place to visit and it looks like you guys really enjoyed yourself! Very nice post
