Sketches from Minaret Vista

Exactly a year ago today I landed in California after a long flight from Hong Kong. It was my first time in the US and although my trip was short (read: FIVE DAYS) I have been obsessed ever since. Road trip, mountains, desert, diners, motels and coffee. I want it all back now!

A major road trip highlight for me was a little detour up to Minaret Vista. Near Mammoth Lakes, this gorgeous viewpoint gave us an incredible sunset with a view of the Minarets in the Sierra Nevada. I've never seen mountains like it - it was full of jagged rough peaks, every single one angling sharply up and then cascading down. Now picture it with a soft pink and orange glow. I remember my eyes hurting a little bit because I'd never seen anything prettier before.

So I took myself back, with a quick little sketch on Procreate...
