Wenting Hot Pot 問鼎 麻辣鍋 養生鍋 Review

First off, I'm not a fan of hot pot. I don't like boiled beef and a diluted soup so I'm not a big fan. With that said, I really enjoyed Wenting Hot Pot 問鼎 麻辣鍋 養生鍋 because the experience was a lot more fun that other places.

Costumes
After signing up for the waiting list, they provide you with hot tea and snacks while you wait. Additionally, they have costumes for you to wear in a little photo area for fun!

Massage Chair
There's a really nice massage chair that you can use. If you'd like to use it, be sure to get your name on that list early!

Nail Salon
They have a nail salon for their customers at no additional cost

Magic Show
They have a classic Chinese magic show with quick changing masks. I missed this part of the show when I was here, but it is a feature. They even feature close-up magic. I think you have to ask about it.

Haagen Daazs Ice Cream Bar
Many hot pot restaurants in Taiwan have "unlimited ice cream" and Wenting Hot Pot 問鼎 麻辣鍋 養生鍋 is no different. BUT, they provide the higher quality ice cream in the bigger bins. The same thing you'd see at a Haagen Daazs ice cream shop.

As for the dining experience, it was VERY clean and modern. You order all your food from a tablet which is available in several languages (including English).

The cooking utensils are awesome! Everything looks very refined with a good weight to it. This made the experience feel much more amazing.

When the food arrived, everything was presented beautifully and the quality was pretty good. I would come back here just to take advantage of the multiple features.

Wenting Hot Pot 問鼎 麻辣鍋 養生鍋 is located in the popular Ximending area and as such, it gets a lot of foot traffic. While walking by, I saw this fancy restaurant with costumes and historic Chinese statues sitting outside. With my curiosity piqued, I decided to give Wenting Hot Pot 問鼎 麻辣鍋 養生鍋 a shot for dinner.

Kids Play Area
Want to eat while having your kids locked up in a little jail? Then you can do that here. I think it's really funny that the photo they used to exhibit their kid's "play area" is of one kid on the floor while another kid is going for the kill shot

Money In Taiwan

Tax Is Included In The Price

All displayed prices in Taiwan are the actual price. Tax is already included and for large purchases, tourists visiting Taiwan can get a 5% Taiwan VAT refund at the airport Tax Refund counter. Some shops offer this service too, but they will require your passport.

Taiwan Is Cash Only (For Most Small Shops)

The primary payment method for all transactions in Taiwan is cash. It's very rare for small shops to take anything other than cash. It's more common to see places accept the Taipei Metro Card as payment rather a credit card.

Supermarkets and convenience stores in Taiwan (7-Eleven, Family Mart) do not accept credit cards (at least not American credit cards). You can only make purchases by cash or by using your pre-loaded funds on your EasyCard.

Using Credit Cards in Taiwan

If you want to use your credit card in Taiwan, make sure to check if a restaurant in Taiwan accepts credit card in advance. When a place does accept credit card, it will typically be Visa or Mastercard. It's extremely rare for a place to accept Discover and American Express. UberEats, HonestBee, Deliveroo and FoodPanda are Taipei Food Delivery Services where you can order food directly to your airbnb or hotel using a credit card.

Exchanging Money in Taiwan

You can exchange money at the airport or any bank in Taiwan. The rates vary from bank to bank and it can be a hassle to get a good rate. For additional information, check out my Exchanging Money In Taiwan Guide.
