Ladakh ("land of high passes") is a region in Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir that currently extends from the Kunlun mountain range to the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent.
It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Jammu and Kashmir and its culture and history are closely related to that of Tibet. Ladakh is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and culture.

MONASTERIES

Ladakh is popular for its incredible & beautiful monasteries! These monasteries tell us about the rich culture of Ladakh through their architecture, ancient texts, paintings etc.

PANGONG LAKE

Pangong Lake is arguably the most popular tourist places in Leh Ladakh. Pangong Tso is a Tibetan name which means “long, narrow, enchanted lake”. It’s not difficult to know why it was named so by the locals when you visit this high altitude lake in Ladakh and literally get enchanted by its beauty. Located at an altitude of 14,270 feet (4,350 meters), Pangong Lake is 134 kilometers long and extends all the way to China (More than 60% of the lake is located within Chinese territory).

FAMOUS DANCES OF LADAKH

JABRO DANCE

Jabro is a community dance of the nomadic people of Tibetan origin living in the high hills of the Changtheng area of Ladakh . Performed by men & Women at all festive occasions, this dance is an integral part of the Losar celebrations, which is the Tibetan New Year Festival. The melodious Jabro songs are sung to the musical accompaniment of 'Damian' - a guitar like stringed instrument and the flute.

DRUGPA-RCHES
Drugpa-Rches dance is performed by the Dards, the people of Aryan origin, settled in the Drass and Gorkhan areas of Ladakh. These settlers are known as "Drugpas", meaning the nomads. They are usually vegetarian people and their festive costume decorations usually include the ever blooming flowers alongwith other silver ornaments. A big drum, 'Damman' and 'Surna' are played as musical accompaniments with their dance.
