🇦🇺 Blackdown Tableland Nationalpark
In 2016 on our 4 weeks camping trip from the Sunshine Coast up to Cairns, we visited the Blackdown Tablelands Nationalpark in eastern Queensland in Australia.
The mountainous Tableland is a unique landscape with gorges, waterfalls and various vegetation. But unfortunately we went there in the dry season so the waterfalls and gorges wasn't that spectacular.
But anyway it's worth a visit and I want to share some impressions with you.
As you can see on the map, the Park is not too big but there is still some nice, scenery walks you can choose from.
We decided to do the walk to the Goodela Lookout first. It was only 1.8km one way but in the Queensland heat they can be quite long and hard.
From there you got a beautiful view over the valley of the Tablelands. And due to the wrong season, there wasn't much people so we had the whole place for us.
After that we had a quick Pasta Lunch in the middle of the Forest! It´s so good if you got your kitchen with you all the time.
After our quick Stop we went on to the bigger section of the day, the walk too the Gudda Gumoo Gorge, a 4km return track which was quite steep and challenging. As said, usually there is more water but even without the water it looks amazing.
At the end of the walk you just need to take another 240 stairs and you finally get rewarded with a nice waterfall and a cold swimming hole.
After a day in that beautiful Nationalpark we went back on the Highway and pulled over at the nearest Petrol Station. We have spend so many nights at Petrol Stations next to the big trucks, we can't count it anymore.
