December last year we went on a 3 day city trip to Malta

It was mainly because of the cold here in Budapest that we were looking for a warmer place to spend a few days. I went through the city trip offers of a few budget airlines, and found out that we could fly to Malta for as little as 50 buck all together. We had nice temperatures of 21 degrees, while in Budapest we were facing freezing temperatures already the week before we left. Malta was completely new to us, both of us had never been there before, so we had no idea what to expect. We had a few challenges along the way, and stayed at a nice hotel, both of these are worth writing a seperate post about, so I will stick to the visit to the Playmobil Funpark in this post.

We were looking for something to kill the time before flying back in the afternoon

We had to leave our hotel room at 10 am, and we were flying around 2 pm if I remember correctly. I was actually looking for a nice playground near the airport to kill the time with our daughter, when I found Playmobil Funpark. Very affordable, even if you have a family with more than 1 child it's a lot cheaper compared to spending some hours at the airport, and a lot more fun!

From St. Paul's Bay (where our hotel was) it was about 30 minutes drive to Playmobil Funpark, but the distance from the park to Malta Airport is only an 8 minute drive by car. We arrived at the park around 11.30 AM, and had a few hours left to enjoy the park, which was more than enough. If you prefer to be there longer, that is also perfectly fine and certainly during the winter months, this is a golden spot to kill the time when you are there with your children. We even enjoyed it ourselves.

Once you are approaching the Playmobil Funpark, you can't miss it

From the outside you feel like you're about to enter a real life Playmobil castle.

The picture above was taken when we arrived, and the sky was grey-ish. But look at the one below, that was taken when we were leaving:

Look at that blue sky, I wasn't looking forward to fly back home to rainy Budapest.. The weather at Malta was so nice, 21 degrees early December. The Playmobil funpark is a perfect spot for winter and summer months though, as there are plenty things to inside and outside. Let me guide you through this cool park with some pictures.

Inside the Playmobil Funpark

This part alone is fun enough to have hours of play fun, our daughter spent much more time inside than she spent playing outside of the park, while the weather was wonderful. You enter the playpark via their shop, I didn't take any pictures of the shop, but this is what you see when you enter the inside area:

We all had our "wow" moments when entering, we seriously felt like a child again and were in awe walking around the different areas inside the funpark.. Look how cool this helicopter is:

Playmobil Funpark Helicopter 2.JPG

There are a lot of helicopters on the tables as well for those that fancy playing with them. Although the huge one in the air is pretty impressive, there is plenty to choose from and to play with on the tables. Even though our daughter is more the dollhouse type of girl, she also liked playing with the helicopters. If you look on the other side of this room, you will see a huge Playmobil dollhouse, a classic one, as I think many people have a child or at least know a child that has a similar dollhouse from Playmobil. It was awesome to see one this big, and looking at the complete set up for the children to play with all the Playmobil stuff.

As you can see, there are small benches there, where the children can sit, and behind them there's a box filled with the dollhouse furniture and playmobil dolls to play with. They clear the houses once a child is done playing, so the next one can start decorating from scratch. We personally had a house like this at home in Holland, and it's very cool to see one this size, and feel like you're in a playmobil world yourself.

It was early December when we were there, so as you can see there was some Christmas decoration as well.

Playmobil Funpark outside: The Pirate's house

Great adventures lie ahead of the mini pirates (and their parents) that have enough courage to face whatever they may find while treasure hunting. Below you can have a look inside the pirate's house and even see a treasure chest which was found on the previous treasure hunt. You can go explore and find out if there's any gold or other treasures left for you to find.

If you are a real pirate, you will climb the ladder inside the pirate's house, and then you will have to go across this dangerous ladder that will eventually lead you to a slide to escape this pirates house.

If you aren't scared to slide down, you will land in the pirate's garden where you will find even more pirate adventures waiting for you:

You can now pick which way you want to continue your adventure. You can look what kind of treasures you may find in this tiny pirates house here:

You can explore the treasure map to plan your next adventure, or you can choose to make some music here as well. The tiny pirates house is also very convenient for pirates that have to rest a little bit before they leave on their next adventure with the pirate ship.

You can climb to the top of the ship, and shout: Ship Ahoy!!!!

Food and drinks in the funpark

There's a restaurant inside that sells all kinds of snacks and food. You can pick all kinds of things to eat or drink, and it wasn't very expensive compared to a lot of other places at Malta. We decided to only have a drink because we had an afternoon flight, and already had a good breakfast in the hotel.

That was the end of our visit to the park, I hope you enjoyed this review. If you ever visit Malta with your family, please make sure you will pay a visit to this Playmobil park, you won't regret it! Below you can find some general information about the park as well.

Thank you for reading...

What a fun looking place for families! That's definitely a way better way to kill a few hours instead of being stuck inside an airport terminal.
