I don't know many people who enjoys being stuck in traffic. But I have to ask:

Is there anybody here who enjoy actually sitting in traffic?

I personally get a bit irritated when stuck in traffic to say the least and hope that I do not end up with road rage at some point in my life. My wife will disagree with my statement of "getting a bit irritated". I was however just now stuck in traffic again, hence posting about this subject, and it gave me the idea to do a count down of the top 10 most traffic congested cities in the world.

I did some research on the subject and I found various nice articles on this. The source I decided to use in the end is credited at the end of the post.

So let's do a count-down of the most traffic-congested cities in the world:

Number Ten: San Francisco, USA - This Northern Californian City, does an annual average of 49 hours sitting in traffic.
Number Nine: Manchester, United Kingdom - Internationally renowned for their Football (Soccer) team, but think you must rather take the train or tube to the Stadium, otherwise you are not going to make it.
Number Eight: Rotterdam, Netherlands - Another European City - One of the largest harbours in Europe is located in Rotterdam, which is the second largest city in the Netherlands. The highway traffic is of high volume, due to the transport of goods from the harbor.
Number Seven: Honolulu, USA - Who would believe that Honolulu, the capital of Hawai will count under the top 10?
Number Six: Paris, France - Well Known for the Eiffel Tower, the Arc, de Triomphe and the Louvre the city comes in at number 6 on the list
Number Five:London, UK - I have been there a few times, and even the M25, which is the circle road around London, is known as the largest car park in the world.
Number Four: Milan, Italy - The Fashion and Design Capitol come in at number 4. You should apparently have your "last supper" before you join the highway :)

And the top 3 are :

Number Three : Los Angeles, USA - The film making capital of the world - with Hollywood, and all the celebrities.
Number Two: Antwerp, Belgium - The City of Antwerp Controls two thirds of the World's Diamond trade.

The most traffic congested city in the world is : Brussels, Belgium

It is estimated that drivers in Brussels waste around more than 80 hours of traffic annually. The reasons as follow:

• Most of the vehicles in Brussels are company owned vehicles - Around 50% of all newly bought cars are company owned
• People drive long distances to work. Although Belgium is a relatively small country many people commute more than 100 km per day.
• No luring alternative travel options than vehicles
• A lot of wealth and a sign of a good economy
• Road Network is fully developed and utilized.

Who would've thought that New York, Sydney, Johannesburg South Africa did not make the list ?
