He was born in Istanbul on February 24, 1936. While studying at Istanbul Fine Arts Academy Painting Department, he went to Germany with an exam he earned. From there he passed to France. Between 1959 and 1964 he took part in philosophy, art history and ceramics courses in Paris as well as his paintings. He made his military service as a taxpayer teacher. He lived in Paris for another year. copywriting left before his return to Turkey. Later, he established DATA advertising and Ada publishing companies (1977). The writing began with poetry in his life. The first poem was published in the 1952 Resource magazine, and the first was published in 1954 in the New Ufuklar magazine.

The novel "O" was filmed by Erden Kıral in the script of Onat Kutlar with the name "A Season in Hakkâri". The film was awarded at the 33rd Berlin Film Festival in 1983 and at the 2nd Mediterranean Cultures Film Festival in 1984.
