Ao fim deste dia de competições, as grandes estrelas brasileiras foram Mayra Aguiar e Rebeca Andrade!
A primeira se destacou ao conquistar o bronze na sua categoria até 78kg do judô, se tornando a primeira brasileira a conquistar três medalhas olímpicas em modalidades individuais, e o fato de estas serem em sequência só deixa a conquista mais espetacular. Mayra também chega ao topo na contagem de medalhas vencidas nesse esporte por qualquer atleta brasileiro.
Já a segunda escreveu seu nome na história ao tornar-se a primeira mulher a subir ao pódio da ginástica artística pelo Brasil, depois de conquistar a medalha de prata no individual geral. Rebeca ainda vai disputar mais duas finais pelo Brasil, no próximo domingo no salto, e na segunda-feira no solo.
A ginástica também foi marcada pela bravura de Simone Biles, multicampeã olímpica com 31 medalhas, que decidiu não participar das fases finais da modalidade para priorizar sua saúde mental. Eu aplaudo a coragem da atleta, especialmente por colocar em pauta este assunto tão importante nos dias de hoje. Doenças mentais já são pautadas como o "mal do século", e eu como muitos outros já sofri muito em decorrência destas. Não é frescura, não é fraqueza. Fraco mesmo é aquele que aponta o dedo e julga sem ter ideia da luta do outro.

At the end of this competition day, the Brazilian stars that have shined are Mayra Aguiar and Rebeca Andrade!
The first one stood out by achieving bronze in Women's -78kg Judo and becoming the first Brazilian woman to win three Olympic medals in individual sports competitions, and the achievement is even more spectacular because it happened in consecutive Olympic Games. Mayra is also now the number one Brazilian athlete in judo by total number of medals won.
The second one wrote her name in history by becoming the first-ever Brazilian woman to achieve an Olympic medal in Women's Gymnastics, after winning the silver in the Women's Individual All-Around Final. Rebeca still has the shot to win even more medals since she is competing in two more Finals, next Sunday in Vault and on Monday in Floor Exercises.
The Gymnastics competition also stood out with the bravery of Simone Biles, multi-Olympic champion with 31 medals won, that decided to not participate in the Finals to prioritize her mental health. I applaud her courage, especially for putting the spotlight on this subject that is so important nowadays. Mental illness is already put as one of the "evils of the century", and I as many others have suffered a lot because of them. It's not weakness, nor cowardice. The real cowards are the ones that point fingers and judge without having the faintest idea of what the other is fighting against.
