NEWS: Cybercab becomes the first Tesla vehicle with Starlink built in, Tesla says
The V5 dish weighs 1.1 kg, less than half the 2.9 kg V4 it replaces. SpaceX only started shipping V5 last week and Tesla is already putting it inside a car.
Tesla published a cutaway diagram on Monday labeling "Starlink Integration" alongside the FSD computer, a GPS antenna, a 5G LTE antenna and 9 camera positions.
Starlink is a backup link. Cybercab runs FSD entirely on its onboard computer and keeps driving with no connection at all.
What the satellite link covers is fleet dispatch, over the air updates, remote support for stuck vehicles and routing in cellular dead zones.
Cybercab is in production at Giga Texas with no steering wheel or pedals. Robotaxi currently operates in Austin, Dallas, Houston and Miami.
