The elephant wasn’t in the room .

Yes , as expected Harvey Weinstein wasn’t there , but there was no shortage of his supporters and ass kissers . If you read my earlier posts last year when the allegations came to light , i said that Hollywood would only give stirring speeches and attention grabbing headlines . That they did but sadly they did not do enough , and sadly they did what they normally do best - act up and make light of the matter on hand As if to say that some comedic act , a stand up act , in this case the host Seth Meyers will somehow ease the pain of the dozens of victims .

Those in attendance and those that were missing .

By now the world knows that one of the most outspoken victims has been Rose McGowan . The me too movement , times up and the rest of the Hollywood heavyweights could have invited the person who first came out . She , along several other actors were missing . Rose claims they weren’t invited , as they aren’t “powerful enough “. She called those who present there and their act as” Hollywood Fakery “ . That was the best speech that wasn’t delivered at the awards . Other notable victims that were not invited were , Daryl Hannah , Rosanna Arquette , and Mira Sorvino . The organisers should be ashamed , I Hope Trump takes aim at this atrocious double standards .
Rose McGowan and all the women who have come forward should have been the only women to have received awards that night . Not Nicole Kidman , nor anyone else . In fact if they really wanted to show support for the victims , they should have in protest given all the awards back , stopped filming , stopped all work to protest and strike until something was done . After all , this is perhaps one group of people who can afford a long and Lengthy protest , unlike other mortals who must continue to work to make ends meet .

The Oprah Speech .

Oprah’s speech was about her bid to gauge her popularity if she ran for president . She wasn’t seeking national approval , she already had that , instead she was seeking approval amongst the powerful elite who can almost buy her a sure shot ticket to win the democratic nomination . If anyone thinks she gave a hell of a speech about women , has got to be kidding. Oprah is a very close friend of Harvey and it’s rumored that she offered her support to Harvey after the news of rape etc broke . What oprah really did was ensure that by giving that speech , she was trying to distance herself from Harvey and get the powerful female voices in HWood to give their nod to her . Her speech had no acknowledgment of any victims nor condemnation of the despicable acts of Her close pal and countless other monsters . She achieved what she set out to do . Others chose to talk about female pay parity ? Wait what ? Pay parity , you have got to be kidding . Why were they even talking about equal pay , when females in Hollywood don’t even get the most basic and essential work right - RESPECT .
FUCK PAY , when you don’t get respect and dignity .

Of Monsters and Men .

As I sat there watching the awards tributes were paid to Oprah , to Tom Hanks ( for bringing a tray of Martini’s to his table ) . Yeah , the tabloids have given their verdict Royale about Hanks being the nicest guy because he walked over and brought his own drinks to his table . That was a defining moment at the awards , when in an year where Dustin Hoffman to Kevin Spacey to Harvey , have all been accused of horrendous acts , and the press talk about an act that is best described as anews grab . Where was Meryl Streep ? And her scathing speech about Trumps acts ( remember last Oscars )? ,
I did not observe a single hollywood actor that seemed genuinely outraged at these behaviours . Instead it was a defining moment of blackness , times up badges and sisterly selfies all to boast the arrival of “times up “. Hollywood sure had a Black night.

Make no mistake these things are planned to a tee . Every act , every speech , Tom Hanks walk of champagne , was all but an act , and on a night when the victims should have been the real winners.
Hollywood is far , far away from being democratised , they failed miserably on Sunday , and the Oscars won’t be any better - Times really up .
