Tides
Where once was land with villages and a town of prosper called Torum, until 1509 the big storm came and it was all flooded, forming Dollard bay. Now I find it hard to imagine thousands of people once lived here. It is one of the many nice places that makes the Oldambt, north-east coast of Nederland, worth a visit.
Ebb and flood in a daily play creating a beautifull work of natural art, different every time. Almost feels like being at the end of the world. Far away, in the distance, beyond the Dollard, lies the river Ems and the German town of Emden. Triggers some kind of surealistic experience when stroling around there.
