The UK has turned into a full blown police state since I moved there in 2006. Everyone sat and watched while rights crippling laws were passed. The UK is the only first world country that has illegalized various forms of manga. Many 16 and 17 year olds have gone to jail over sexting pics to each other which is considered child porn in the UK. Even a 16 or 17 year old grabbing his crotch through fully clothed jeans is considered level 1 child porn (there are 3 levels with 1 being the lightest but still published by up to 5 years in prison).
It's astonishing things continue to get worse in the UK. The schooling system continues to breed people who are unable to think for themselves, much as in the states. More than 75% of Brits don't even have 1000 in savings for emergencies. Most are in debt.
Meanwhile, the queen privatized many of the prisons in the UK, turning it into a full blown multi-billion pound business.
The prisons are also the only ones where solitary confinement is standard. Inmates only get 30-60 minutes outside their cells each day, otherwise are confined to a tiny cell 23 to 23 1/2 hours each day. How can such institutions exist in a first world country in the 21st century?
